Recently took a trip to Nha Trang which, as you can see, is about an hour's flight north-east of Ho Chi Minh City.

A couple pics from my recent trip to Phu Quoc Island which, inexplicably, is part of VN. ;) Notice it's just off the coast of Cambodia. How Phu Quoc came to be in Vietnamese hands is somewhat confusing, so I'll just leave it at that.

Lots of wonderful natural sites on Phu Quoc but public access to these places is largely restricted. Here's a little river.

I thought Phu Quoc would have more torquoise water than the east coast beaches of Vietnam but in those pics, the waters does not look too clear.

^I don't remember, frankly. It was quite stormy when I was there so that may have affected the water clarity.

I'm trying to think of a beach I've visited in VN that has that gorgeous turquoise water. Not sure...

Cat Tien National Park, Viet Nam
 

Just got back from Cat Tien National Park located just north of Ho Chi Minh City. I'd heard varying reports on the quality of the park for years, so I finally decided to settle the debate myself and have a look - beautiful.

Despite almost total decimation during the war - Agent Orange, primarily - and threats from traditional medicine and the bush meat trade, wildlife endemic to the area has persisted. Yes, the tiger, leopard and rhino are gone, like in so many other parts of the world, but birds, gibbons, monkeys and much more thrive within the park boundaries.

A few pics from a recent trip to the Mekong Delta. This area, approximately 200 km south-west of Saigon, offers what you might expect: lot of water; lots of fruit trees; a very chilled place. Enjoy.

Chinatown - Ho Chi Minh City
 

Why do we like Chinatown? Or should I say 'Chinatowns.' They're dirty. They're dangerous. They're filled with vice. Huh, I guess I answered my own question.

The following photos are a mere drop in the bucket. Lots of temples. Lots of markets. Lots of colonial shophouse architecture. Unlike its neighbour to the east (Saigon), Chinatown (ie Chợ Lớn - Big Market) appears almost preserved in amber. In disrepair, sure, but charming in its own right. Anywho...

I saw no graffiti on any of those buildings! :shrug:

Whenever I see photo's of different cities, around the world, this is one of my curiosities, graffiti, which cities have it, in abundance, and which don't.

Having just finished reading my first book on Vietnam, it makes me wonder what on earth did they do with all that debris from the War? And filling in all those bomb craters?
