Was not aware Columbus had so much going on. Looks great! Some very cutting edge looking designs in there.

Wow, CBus is killing it! Especially love the new urban development in Dublin and other suburbs-glad to see that they're making a real effort to become destinations and commercial centers of their own right, as well as take steps towards becoming more centralized and less car-dependent.

Hmmm. I did not see the nine story red yuppie box planned for downtown where the lab building was...also not seeing the six or so story building downtown planned for I think Fifth and Town(just requiring some 60's lowrise junk to be demo'd).
LOL at 'yuppie boxes' We can't help it that we were 1/2 the urban area pop. as Cincy in 1950, or 1/3 that of Cleveland at the same time. We don't have many significant buildings(left) to redo. How about those buildings on Broad by the horror that is our tallest building(named appropriately after one of our nastiest ugliest governors)that are being turned into a boutique hotel? Also a new 12 story yuppie box just announced for 1st and High in the Short North-has the Short North facebook brigade all up in arms. |
^Yeah, I'm not going to post every yuppie box going up in the area as that would take months.
Meanwhile, another box is going up in the Short North: 12-Story Building Proposed to Replace Grandview Mercantile in Short North http://www.columbusunderground.com/w...90&w=650&zc=1& http://www.columbusunderground.com/w...ndering-01.jpg More below: http://www.columbusunderground.com/1...in-short-north |

Thanks for the great update, ColDayMan! I'm hardly surprised things are booming like this.
As a native Cuyahoga/Summit Buckeye, I've always loved Columbus. I'm also a Nationwide brat. I think it's required. ;) |
Kaufman Announces Five-Story Apartment Development in Franklinton
http://www.columbusunderground.com/w...-street-03.jpg http://www.columbusunderground.com/w...-street-02.jpg http://www.columbusunderground.com/w...-street-05.jpg http://www.columbusunderground.com/w...-street-04.jpg Franklinton has been a hotspot for development announcements over the past several years, and that trend continues today, with new plans proposing a five-story mixed-use apartment building on Broad Street in the heart of the neighborhood. The project will be the first in Franklinton from Kaufman Development, which has primarily focused their urban development efforts more centrally Downtown. “We’ve been following the neighborhood for many years now and getting involved in what’s happening there through the Franklinton Development Association, Independents’ Day and through a variety of our other friends that are active in the community,” explained Kaufman Development founder Brett Kaufman. “We really relate to the neighborhood and feel like we can do something really unique and special there — different from any other part of the city.” More below: http://www.columbusunderground.com/k...in-franklinton |
Franklinton Mixed-Use Development Proposal Receives Updates
http://www.columbusunderground.com/w...90&w=650&zc=1& Changes have been been made to the large mixed-use development planned for the former Riverside-Bradley public housing site in East Franklinton. The first phase of the project will now include 230 apartments, over 36,000 square feet of office and retail space, and a 290-space parking garage. The layout of the development has also been altered, apparently in response to concerns expressed by the East Franklinton Review Board when the project was reviewed conceptually in May of last year. Board members at that time thought more emphasis should be given to the river side of the project. Although the development still features two five-story buildings fronting Rich Street, two rows of three-story townhomes have been added that will look out onto the Scioto River. Damn, Columbus is going crazy. I'm surprised the city doesn't get more attention.

Kaufman Development Announces 10-Story Mixed-Use Project in Short North
Earlier this year, Kaufman Development purchased the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers building located on Second Avenue, just off High Street in Victorian Village. Today, we’re getting a first look at what they plan to do with both the building and its large parking lot that faces Price Avenue. A development proposal unveiled this morning shows a plan that calls for the construction of a 10-story mixed-use property that would also preserve a portion of the existing two-story building located on the 1.5 acre site.
