The Great and Less Than Great Canadian Logo Thread

Canadian Logos: Past, Present, Future, and Fugly.

Post 'em here along with your thoughts.

To get us started, two Canadian bank logos. I much preferred the old logos to the current ones.

CIBC: OLD (cool symbol)>>>New (banal and fugly)

BMO: Old (emphasized Montreal)>New (de-emphasized Montreal, while emphasizing bowel-movement)

The Vancouver Canucks can't seem to make up their mind. Those horrible V-sweaters from the eighties (And almost as bad skate logo)...vs. the boring but comfortable hockey stick....they tried too hard with the orca

Quote:

Hydro Quebec is bad-assed, Hydro One is lower-case Lame-O (not to mention, extraordinarily badly-managed)

Among the "greats" - CN, CBC, Air Canada, National Film Board, Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs.

I really wish they would just stick with numbers 1. and 2. as home and away.

It just infuriates me they keep monkeying around with ugly logos when they've had a good one all along.

I think our worst is the logo (and motto, and built form) for the suburban Town of Conception Bay South.

One of the local rugby clubs, the St. John's Swilers (that's the term for someone who hunts seals) is probably the only thing with our nationalist flag slapped on it that I dislike. It's just too detailed with the Matthew, a seal, and a pitcher plant.

Newfoundland Television's logo is brutal.

Jumping Bean (local coffee house chain) has a logo I love. Not sure why - but it's so cute and inviting passing their location.

And another I really love is Fog Off, a clothing line/store on Water Street.

City of Vancouver.

(^^^ That's the new logo, right? I seem to recall an article on SSP about it.)

Huh. So it turns out I grew up in the era during that boring stretch in the third row. Seeing them all lined up like this, I think I really like the classic look with the veins in the leaves.

Sorry..."leafs."

They really can't make up their mind!

I think my old town of London Ontario has a good one with a large tree representing "the Forest City".
