It's good to see this I guess, but what a dumb architect. Half the space is taken up by parking garage. If they had stacked the apartments on top of the garage they could have had either more or bigger apartments plus more ground level retail space. Ugh!

This is the micro apartment development talked about earlier this year. I doubt the developer would have wanted "bigger" apartments. :D

In terms of land use, it does seem underutilized with half the property being only parking.

It looks like they are planning on gutting the existing building/warehouse on 6th & Ave B and turning that into a 2 level(?) garage.

The site map appears to show they own a 1/4 of the block across 6th as well. Maybe there's a chance to expand in some way in the future?

Well, the building to the north is actually already a parking garage, so I guess not tearing it down ended up being the cheapest solution.

Google satellite shows an AC unit on the roof, and street view shows a single garage bay off of 6th.

I'm pretty sure. What looks like a stairwell roof entrance on the south side of the building is actually an access ramp.

Apparently they have too much on their plate with construction costs.

I would have posted earlier about it, but I didn't realize there was a thread related to it.

This project is moving along as I put a bid in on it at the end of April. The unassuming existing building is, and stays, a 2-level parking garage with minor renovations. The apartment building is pretty simple. Foundation, 2nd level is suspended concrete, then the remaining floors are stick framing. Nothing crazy big.

Last I heard was the start of construction date (July 2018) got pushed back about a month or so. Because of this, the GC has not released contracts to subs at this point.

(...just sitting on my hands waiting.....) :(
