But demand now for renting and selling Seattle apartment buildings is so strong that developers can make almost as much with apartments as with condos — with potentially less risk, he said.

Continental's tower will have 314 units, and is expected to open in early 2017. It was designed by Weber Thompson and will be built by PCL Construction Services.

Guincher said Continental's project at the northwest corner of Second and Virginia can be brought to market quicker than other projects in the pipeline downtown because the site it bought in March came with a master-use permit.

He said the site is in a prime location near Pike Place Market, the downtown retail core and entertainment, and within walking distance of Amazon's future headquarters.

Really liked the design on this...but what is up with literally every tower being 440 feet in Seattle? Lol.

I think it has to do with the height limit for the area. Something called "CAP" which sets regulations for height and density for new towers.

I like the design also, the crown kind of reminds me of the new CHOP tower that's going up in Philly.

We will probably see action on this in the months coming.

This project broke ground yesterday. Another one for the crane city.

On Top of the future towers to go up near Bellevue. 3 x 440 feet revealed just this week for the nearby Satellite. Many more will start soon once the design reviews and final approvals are green lighted. Seattle metro is going strong. The Miami of the NorthWest in terms of construction activity.

Well if Miami's going under Seattle won't be too far behind considering it's not too far from the ocean/sea level. Many other global cities would be gone too with that logic :runaway:

Most of Downtown Seattle is far higher than it'll need to be, like Belltown which is around 80 feet above sea level. Only Pioneer Square and the Elliott Bay waterfront are really low.

Also, big cities will build dikes. It's everything else that's the problem. In the Seattle region we'll lose some lowlands but most areas are hills or plateaus of some kind.

Lots planned. Design wise this is pretty nice along with the others. Well, from what we've seen at those preliminary design meetings.

Do you have a possible photo showing caissons or advanced foundation so this could be moved to the construction section (not sure whats going on because its dark in the photo)? I'm from NJ so I can't go out and scope the sites. :(

Unless you want to cover a plane ticket. I'm up for another trip and always welcome to donations and a free hotel. Preferably the Fairmont. Amazing hotel btw.

This building is beautiful can't wait to see it go up!
