You wouldn't say that if you ever tried to do a project within the ALR . . . the maintenance of agricultural viability is strictly adhered to. We had to show a detailed plan about how several acres of waste land (from the illegal dumping of inorganic soils) could be turned back into productive farmland - even though they had accepted that our client would not be doing this in any foreseeable future. This included soil removal and replacement, reconstituting a natural drainage network, and an analyses of crop choice possibilities.
Our site appears on the above map as part of the brown 'not used for farming.'
The ALR is still real.
