My photos from today. Looks like there are 5 more floors to go, plus the penthouse floor.
Glass is looking very good: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3836/...12ba09ff_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3863/...0d2f2318_b.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5570/...2fedd9a9_b.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5586/...7bf80901_b.jpg The fade pattern in the glass somewhat visible in this leftmost panels: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5571/...ac855469_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3920/...3ec88d61_b.jpg One narrow panel is up on the north-west corner on Howe. It looks great, though significantly lighter than the other panels, but it may just be the light. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3910/...232de369_b.jpg |
Amazing so far!

a quiet gem
This building scores on two main points.
First, its symmetry is in keeping with, and complementary to, that block of Howe Street. Secondly, the reflectivity seems second to none (except perhaps the nickel CIBC on lower Burrard). It is nevertheless a real mirror, reflecting back to us the sky and city, crisply and elegantly. |
Here are Built Form's pics of the model.
There is two tone glass, but the glass already installed on the south and east sides, and at the NW corner, are shown as the lighter version. But I also don't see (on the installed glass) the random lighter vertical strips that appear on the Nelson side of the model on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Could be that they rearranged the colour blocking. Quote:

^ Another great shot Klazu.
----------- Glass update from this morning - lighter coloured spandrel on the west side: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5590/...69b08559_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3836/...69894852_b.jpg https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3910/...758290d2_b.jpg https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5584/...513d6a9e_b.jpg All my photos |
Thanks!
The spandrel colour looks fine as it's part of the fade / transition to the stripes - looks like the stripes will be more pronounced on the west façade than the south façade. It looks like the top of the windows on the west façade have a lighter, sharp edged stripe at the top (performing the same function as the lighter spandrel below), so presumably the next level of windows will have the fade on the bottom edge and each stripe on the west façade will have a sharp bottom edge and a faded top edge. Whereas on the south façade, the stripe has a faded top edge and a faded bottom edge. Quote:

Looks like the stripe changes to top and bottom fade halfway across the façade, but it could be the lighting. |
There is some strange pattern emerging from the faded glass, I suppose. I hope they fo follow through the plan with an eye for details and do not install one or two elements incorrectly.
The block of Howe Street between Smithe and Nelson is starting to appear quite urban and dark! You rarely think about it, but the Law Courts building is actually quite massive from that side, forming a street wall of around 10 floors tall. |

Stunning perspective, Locked In. Now that the Robson - Nelson streetwall on Howe is filled-out, the block has the feeling of an established European city.

Nice, thanks.
That last one shows the stripes nicely. |
Hey guys,
The Endall Elliot renders show the fritted stripes on the Howe St. side - they stagger and vary in edge treatment: http://endallelliot.com/endall_ellio...rner_view.html http://endallelliot.com/endall_ellio...howe_elev.html |
^ Thanks.

Pics by me today -
