COPENHAGEN | A Daily dose
Hi guys, gals and googlerinos..
Following the latest trend I will present my beloved hometown Copenhagen by a daily picture and a small description.. All pictures will be by me and from 2005 and forward.. should you have any questions or requests by all means ask! :) A Daily dose of Copenhagen We start out with a picture of my favorite hotel: D'angleterre It is located on Kongen's Nytorv ( King's Square ) in the old town and are one of the most exquisite - and pricy - hotels in Europe.. http://i7.tinypic.com/6lmvhxt.jpg In the winter the square are transformed into an outdoor artificially cooled ice rink and several times doing the summer the square are home to outdoor art exhibits |
Great idea! Can never get enough Copenhagen. :)

Word!

Nice idea for a thread, mate. Can't wait to see what's next in this installment. :)
It should be mentioned though, that d'Angleterre is one of the most "exquisite" old-style European hotels. It does not have the amenities to cater to today's business travellers - for example, most of the rooms doesn't even have a/c. The new Méridien Palace Hotel at Rådhuspladsen will be something else though. :) |
I can really need a daily dose, cause it's MUCH RAIN HERE.
|
^^
You're not alone, Bergensers. Copenhagen/Malmö had a total of 8 hours of sunlight in December. :) |
^ Oh, now you reminded me of the (5-6?) hours of sun we had at the worst.
Spending the hours of sun at school... |
I saw the sun today!!! :D
And Freki - great idea for a thread! |

^ In Malmö! I was totally surpirsed myself. :) But it was only for a short while, somewhere between 10-11 AM.
|
I've seen a ton of sun the last week.. it seems everytime I get south of Brøndby Strand it pops out and follow me down to Køge.. ( the "sun coast" :D ) but not exactly blueskies or anything, just that anoying sun getting right in your eyes and reflecting on the moist road..
And now springs is on it's way  Oh and to all Vinland residents ( that would be all on the western side of the pond ) the pic a day follows the CET time zone if you wonder about lacking pics :) See you all tomorrow - and thanks for the comments! |
Nice plaza.
|
Today we'll take a look at Amager Torv - the main square on Strøget pedestrian street
In the middle you'll see the Stork fountain from 1894 that among other things was a central point for the hippies back in the 60's and are today nationally known from a song from back then about some good old hippy bashing by the police :) The Square is surrounded by great shops and cafes and is a popular place to take a rest from all the shopping.. both indoor and outdoor as the pic shows.. http://i9.tinypic.com/734spqf.jpg |
^^
I think this square looks better seen from the west, with the Café Norden building (?) overlooking the square. :) In any case, it's a lovely place. Keep 'em coming! |
Aaaah, when spring (and my salary) comes I'll take a shopping day in Copnehagen. :)
|
I want more, nice though. More please...
 |
That's many bicycles! Good job Danes.

Plenty of pics there :) |
Hey, good idea for a thread! :)
In July of this year we will be in the neighbourhood and will surely pay a visit to Copenhagen. We won't be staying in your favorite hotel, D'angleterre, though. ;) |
^Cool remember to take lots of pics and share them here :)
For today we'll have a look at the Marble Church ( Marmorkirken ) located in the part of town known as Frederiksstaden - named after and mainly founded by King Frederik VI just north of the old town.. In this area you'll also find the Royal Palace and most of the larger embassies.. a very classy district to say the least.. :) I'm not a fan of churches myself, but I must admit I like this one - especially upclose where's it's abundent with details http://i1.tinypic.com/873vqxt.jpg |
