Suburbs and Outlying Areas of Seattle & Tacoma

This is my third running thread for personal photos taken in my area, and is dedicated specifically to all of the small towns and suburbs in the Seattle-Tacoma metro area, as well as agricultural and other outlying areas in the Western Washington metro region. As is the case in all of my photo threads, all of the photos which I post are mine.

More will come.

Today I've got a brief tour of Tukwila for ya'll. Tukwila is mostly just big box/mall retail and a sprawling warehouse district. It is about 15 minutes south of Seattle, and 20 minutes north of Tacoma via I-5. If you count all of the stores within walking distance of the big mall and all of the stores in the big mall, there are over 500.

We start off with a random Safeway parking lot:

I snuck a few shots of the inside of the Westfield Southcenter Mall (the largest shopping centre in the northwestern U.S.). Cherish them, since I think photography is technically illegal inside. ;)

Seafood City is an asian supermarket (I think based out of Las Vegas) which just established its first branch here, along with various other associated similarly themed eateries:

An airplane:

Another airplane:

The mall entrance:

Strander Boulevard:

Sea-Tac Airport is just on the other side of that yonder hill:

A Train:

The Inter-Urban Trail essentially connects the North and South Puget Sound:

Another hotel, and a small amusement park:

The same train as above, but this time viewed from under a bridge:

BUSTED! :haha:

The Green River. An infamous serial killer dumped bodies in this river a few years ago, but most folks have forgotten about that:

An Office. If you took away the office and just left the grass, it would almost look like the old Windows XP desktop theme :D:

A small corporate fortress built into the side of a hill right next to a river...

Looking back at the mall:

Yet another airplane:

You'd think that the Tukwila Police Department would appreciate the publicity of having their sacred mural shared with the world, but oddly, I didn't get away with this one without getting harrassed by an officer who seemed to be convinced that I was a terrorist for being there. We had an interesting conversation... but then again, what hobby photographer hasn't?

...and that's Tukwila for you... and one last airplane, just for the heck of it:

Although your pictures are great, I have to say your commentary is even better! :haha:

Yeah, that's Tukwila, such as it is. At least it has commuter rail to Seattle and Tacoma.

Love looking at suburbs, even though I hate suburbs. Thanks!
