Emojis make their way into architecture as contemporary ornament
I love this so much! It's risk-taking! It's of-our-time! It's everything architecture should be and so much more interesting than another glass box or deconstructivism retread.

Well, other than the stupid emojis, that building is very well done and well proportioned.

It looks cute and creative now, it's gonna look tacky and dated in about five years.

I find we childish French tend to use far too much of these countless emojis in our texting these days.
Think it is usually meant to soften online speech, like - hey, this ain't supposed to be rude! Really..? lol Whatever, it's playful to such a building. But in fact, the thing to make me drool to it is the texture of the brick. Very nice. Nothing much to do with some (likely cheaper) precast brick we often get to latest buildings here. |
This is awesome! A sign of the times.

Emojis
It's great.

It's a charming building in its own right, the emoji make it even better. There's a great renewal of interest in post-modern architecture the last few years, as early post-modern gems approach the minimum age for historical designation I think it's bringing it back to attention.
