CALGARY | Eighth Ave Place II | 581' / 177.1m | 41 floors
Cranes have been erected. The podium was already built when the original tower was constructed, so there is no digging for this one.

These have always sorta reminded me of the original Wilshire Grand development in LA before they went to a single tower design, but these two are much closer in height.
Definitely good looking buildings though. |
I like them

I like the idea of these two towers, but think they would look better if the second tower was rotated 180 degrees so that both their roofs were sloping in the same direction. To me that would look better than them facing each other.
|
I think this one works best having them face opposite directions. Would be cool if they were on opposing sides of the road or something.

Agreed. Makes the twins much more palatable. Especially when lined up with Husky and Bankers. |
I feel this one is going to go up pretty fast! :D
|
Yeah, without a podium to build, it should really fly.
|
Yep, the first tower went up at a very quick pace.

That financial district area is going be quite the urban canyon soon.

this is the one set of twins in calgary that actually is pleasing to the eyes. i love this set and i also love the way they face to opposite directions. they are meant to resemble the tops of the rocky mountains and facing the other way as they do only helps with the effect. i have tried to find a good angle that ties them in with the mountains ever since moving here about 2 and a half months ago but seeing them with the mountain backdrop is next to impossible because of the bankers hall towers. when up in the calgary tower and for that matter, most of the near bye office towers, you will be able to see the desired effect that i speak of. nice towers imo.
