From the Beekman thread. This really cool photo looks a few weeks old, but you can see 1WTC starting to peek up on the far right.

Older shot, but you can clearly see that the new WTC will be the hub of Downtown...

It's striking how prominent the Beekman can seem from one angle (like from across the Brooklyn Bridge), and not so much from another.

It looks like 4WFC's copper roof is finally starting to gets its first shades of green in! Only 20 or so years after its big brothers. Our little 4WFC is becoming a man!

Will the spire be waiting in a storage somewhere and craned up or will it be physically built on the top of the tower?

i believe that the spire will be prefabricated and then hoisted to the top when the tower tops out,but id as Zen just to make sure.

Now the tower becomes a real part of the Downtown Skyline!

just sitting at work with nothing to do i thought i'd start to look at the pictures when this thread started in january 2007. of course i couldnt look at every page but looked at many. i then started to look at every 50 then starting in 2010 every 10 or so and the progress on the site in 2010 alone is mind-blowing and so uplifting:cheers: can't wait to get back there in a couple of weeks:banana:

Just a question: The port authority website says the observation deck will be at levels 100 and 101, with the "skyline" restaurant on 102. I assume then that floor 100 is at 1265 ft. What elevation would the restaurant be at? I would think close to 1300 ft.

I'm curious about that too. And will the restaurant have any open air or will it all be enclosed?

You can hope for some kind of open air screened-in area like the John Hancock Center in Chicago, but I'm sure it will be closed.

What was is no more. Such is life.

The current design for the spire calls for 20 foot high chunks to be hoisted and bolted into place. In the interest of cost it wont be fabricated until just before they are ready for it. (Like the steel for the rest of the building.)

Why not make it in bigger pieces ? Because the tower cranes can't lift them. The spire will weigh about a ton per foot.

That info does not jive with the prints. the Restarant is on floors 100 (1,240 feet) and 101 (1,253' 4"), the observation deck is on 102 and 102M. (1,266' 8" & 1,279' 10")
