AUSTIN | 606 East 3rd | Feet | Floors | Proposed
I was searching for info about about possible hotel operators for the projects that haven't announced their hotel brands yet when I came across this ~41-story project. I don't ever recall hearing about this Le Meridien Hotel & Condo project on Red River before. This would be north of the Fairmont and have a public observation deck. Does anyone know if this is an old project or just a vision? It says the architect/developer is seeking financing. I guess it would be key to know if the site is owned by someone connected to this project.

If the Le Meridien Hotel is a legit project, it would have to be built on the block where Moonshine Patio is based on the project's reference to Waller Creek and the convention center.

Legit or not, I don't see Waller Creek in any of those renderings.

The roof line in the renders is amazingly butt ugly.

Agreed.

I actually like it. It's unique.
My only question is this: isn't that one of the lots that the city wants to expand the convention center onto? |
Daaaaang that is ugly

I like it better than other concept on the website for the same tract. The other one had PALM TREES on the pool level!

One of our threads, perhaps for one of the projects near I-35 in the Rainey district, shows a futuristic vision of the skyline featuring several non-existent skyscrapers near Waller Creek and north of the Fairmont. I wonder if we'll start seeing some announcements and activity when the tunnel is completed. So much potential, I really hope it doesn't get farked up by hit-and-run developers cashing in on Austin's hot RE market.
One thing we have going for us that isn't present in a lot of other boom towns is that there's a lot of interest in Austin as more than a place to invest; people and corporations want to be a part of it, to identify with it, and as such they're more apt to invest in that which will benefit their own image and the quality of life for their employees, which leads to choices that are more likely to benefit the city as a whole. Fingers and toes crossed. |

It looks like a super computer.

That would also make more sense as it also says "the rear of the property fronts Waller Creek". |
If it's a filler building, I'm more okay with ugly or plain. This one would be one of the main views for folks traveling up and down 35.

From that link of the Le Meridien Hotel under the hospitality tab, is another rendering showing a "Crowne Plaza Austin" hotel. They said it was the predecessor of the Le Meridien project.
