:previous: Loevely shots!
The building looks very huge now, just remember how small its footprint once appeared; shot from July 2008 (wtc.com): http://www.wtc.com/uploads/images/71..._July-2008.jpg |
Has anybody even HEARD from Libeskind lately? Is his Manhattan studio still open, even?
|
^ Libeskind is working on developments around the world.

IN my opinion...
As a nod to the original and for the sake of sentimentality, I am surprised the architect didn't tweak the Blast Wall with a minor detail that would have brought a sense of continuity and familiarity into the lobby, thereby tying the future with the past. See below what I would have liked to see. I left half undone, to show the before. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4085/...b35ae255_b.jpg (Photoshopped from an original by NYguy found above.) |
|
This thing just needs a couple more floors and I should be able to see it from my living room window.
|
Well, I think the FT already set the world record for most photographed construction site, anyway.

^And seconded! I think it would be a nice tribute.

^ If you look closely, it already kinda resembles the Twin Towers without that photo-shopped enhancement.
But your idea is clever. =) |
yes it resembles the twins but what he created was the gothic look on the base of the twins and it still could be done but they won't
|
^ It would only be visible from inside, it would have been lost on most people.

That being said, people like me and maybe many others that will visit this particular building, would have understood that little touch. They would most certainly have a sad smile when they walked in the lobby and and saw the light streaming through the small Gothic arches. I would have felt a heart glow and warmth upon realizing the architect had reverence for the tower before it. More specifically, it would have cost practically nothing to do. |
