NEW YORK | The Setai - 400 Fifth Ave | 631 FT / 192.3 M | 57 FLOORS | T/O

400 Fifth Avenue
631 FT / 192.3 M
57 floors
Residential
Construction: began in 2008
Gwathmey Siegel and Associates Architects

I think this project was lost for some reason. I found it on wirednewyork and based on fotos in the thread there it looks to be either u/c or site prep.

Could a moderator please link this in the New York compilation page?

The site is still being excavated. But, foundation work could be underway before the end of the year.

Good call on making the thread, but can you please cite the source for where you got the original renders from? They can't stay if you don' cite the original source.

You can see rebar and whatnot laid out at the bottom of the site. If parts of the building are already in the ground (as they are), the building is u/c.

never seen that project before, i like the classic design :)

Unless the facade treatment turns out to be distinctive, this is a retro design that won't be a memorable addition to Fifth Avenue.

Better than the earlier renderings from the original thread, but this will be another 425 5th Avenue. Nice to see it rise, but it'll be forgotten once it's built unless that crown really stands out at night...

The rest of that block could use a lift.

antinimby Jan 20, 2009 5:07 PM

The rest of the block is mostly lined with beautiful, ornate buildings. They better not lay a hand on them.

Love the base. Not only does it follow the street wall, but it also rises setback-free till it reaches the surrounding buildings. That's how urban development should be done (I'm talking to you, Gene Kaufman!)
