LOS ANGELES | Century Plaza Towers | 571 FT | 44 FL | 1975

Century City's skyline rival's that of many cities in the US and these two are the main reason why. These buildings are some of LA's best skyscrapers. Designed by Minoru Yamasaki (who also designed the World Trade Center), the Century Plaza Towers are a really good example as to why less is more. Sleek. Mature. Contemporary. Modern. Next to Cal Plaza in downtown, these are my favorite skyscrapers in Los Angeles. Truly amazing buildings. Very underrated in my opinion as well.

Much better than the late WTC, at least in my opinion. So is the one in Tulsa, for that matter.

Agreed, these twins are awesome

Best high rises in Los Angeles, methinks.

Its so funny you just posted this- just last week I was driving down Olympic towards Century City thinking to myself "the way the sun is glinting off those towers reminds me so much of the WTC". I had to look it up on Wikipedia, and sure enough, same architect, same aluminum paneling on the sides.

I agree with Illithid Dude- best highrises in LA. Wish they were in DTLA :D

Anyone else notice how the corners transist from pointed to flat?

Most people overlook details like these that make buildings unique.

:) These are ' MY BOYS ' ! They're every bit as handsome, today, as they were in 1975.

Coming from San Diego to visit family in Oxnard as a kid, these towers were always a big landmark telling me we were almost there and I always kept a lookout for them.

Fun fact: The progressive rock group Yes used these towers for the cover of their album Going for the One.

Note: Album cover slightly NSFW, I guess.
