What's the highest FAR for an office building in North America?
 

I'm thinking it may be the Sears Tower, Empire State Building or Chrysler. Or it could very well be the Equitable Building with a FAR of ~30. It's not merely being tall as any site that includes a plaza area will significantly impact the FAR calculation.

I found an interesting link on the topic: https://www.planning.org/pas/reports/report111.htm. It says the Empire State Building has a FAR of 32, which sounds about right. Then it goes on to list the Equitable Building as 17 and that's way off.

Anyone? I can't be the only one that finds this a topic of interest.

It's an interesting question, I just have no clue. I'm surprised nobody else has chimed in yet.

The highest three FARs I've found in Detroit are the Cadillac Tower at 40, David Broderick Tower at 36, and the David Stott Tower at 35.

The Cadillac Tower is on a 101 x 100 lot with 40 floors (first such building outside of NYC and Chicago to have 40 floors). The Broderick and Stott were office buildings at first but have since been converted to apartment buildings so I guess technically they wouldn't count.

^^^But isn't the Cadillac tower surrounded by a massive parking lot? Is that parking lot part of a separate, developable lot?
