|
i love it! and next to Chase tower oh yes.... let's cross fingers!
|
Looks amazing. Come on Houston!
|
I hope they get this built. Its been too long since houston has built anything of height.
|
Keep an eye on this one. If there is positive response and the building fills up quick, we could be looking at a boom for Houston.
|
Very nice, and a great location in the skyline. With the curve running up the side, it reminds me a bit of the Mandarin Oriental proposed for Chicago.

There are two rumors I have been hearing. The first is that there have been speculative plans for a Mandarin Oriental in downtown Houston. I didn't hear that it would be in this exact location but rather that it would be near Market Square (which this is). The second came from the Chronicle about up to 6 possible downtown towers on the boards. One of the projects was stated to be a mixed-use project by Linbeck Construction. The Chronicle didn't narrow down the location but they did say it would be near this area.
So, I am hoping that it is the Linbeck mixed-use project and that it involves the Mandarin Oriental! :) |
Nice!!! Houston has been waiting for this for a very long time, I was wondering myself when Houston would be getting building over 60 floors... Congrats Houston!!! :D
|
This is so cool. In that model showing the skyline, that's the Chase Tower to the right. I'm guessing this building will be in the upper 800 foot range, possibly even 900 feet. If so, then that would make it the tallest skyscraper to be built in Texas since 1985, when the Bank of America Plaza was built in Dallas.
|
If over 900 ft thats very impressive height, and great news for Houston. Good to hear the boom is still happening there.

This looks pretty cool! :)
|
its under both Mixed Use Commercial and Multi-Family Developments on the Kobi Karp Architecture site.
So that just about confirms it as a mixed use project like I thought.. |
Very nice. Hope it gets built.

I did a quick lil map of the projects and how close they are in location..
its starting to add up =) But still some parking lots needing to go hehe http://www.houstonx.com/houstonprojects.gif Discovery Green- Under Construction One Park Place- Under Construction Houston Pavillions - Under Construction Discovery Tower & Expansion - Development Phase |
Let's start taking car of those surface lots, one by one.
This project is right on the Red Line, too. |
The good news is that this picture doesn't reflect
1) 1000 Main Tower (you can see the cranes on the top row, third block from the left) 2) Hilton Americas Hotel and Garage (can see construction just to the right of the Discovery Green on the bottom block of the photos) 3) The new Christ Church expansion that covers the 4th block down on the far right hand side of the photo (block includes new Dunn Center, Episcopal Diocese offices, Youth Center, green space, and garage) Now, the bad news is that we added another surface lot when the 10 story hotel came down just to the top of Minute Maid Field in the middle of the night last year. That's a new asphalt lot. Uggghhh. |
What they need to do is build some parking garages around Minute Maid Park for the games, because those surface lots will be taken up soon.
