Three towers to rise in LIC, costing $875M Tishman Speyer and a Toronto public real estate company H&R Real Estate Investment Trust team up to buy a site where they will erect a 1.2 million-square-foot apartment complex with 1,600 units. Daniel Geiger June 16, 2014 Quote:
This area is already booming with various developments on the boards... http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/156149064/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/156149065/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/156149066/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/156149067/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/156149068/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/156149069/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/nyguy/image/156149070/original.jpg |
Hopefully the inclusionary housing bonus could bump up the square feet to 1.5 million.

The transformation of Court Square over the next five years is going to be nothing short of incredible. It is going to evolve from a disjointed high-rise cluster into one of the largest Downtown skylines in the United States, potentially surpassing DoBro and possibly challenging Jersey City.
The sum of new construction will push it to a scale that compares to the Downtowns of many large American cities. Insane, considering what it looks like today! Heatherwood & Rockrose will lead the push with both developers building towers of ~600', but the 'other' infill -- probably a dozen 40-story buildings at this point? -- will be key to enhancing pedestrian vitality, and really creating a livable/walkable & legitimately *desirable* neighborhood. |
Here's a handy update from curbed that leaves some things out, but gives an idea...the link provides more details.

Note: IDK if we have a thread for this or if its under a different name, but its a pretty large project. If we do, feel free to merge it with the corresponding thread if there is one up. Also, the name corresponds to the addresses in which these towers will be built on.

The 594 feet in the title is wrong.
Also that YIMBY article has an error. It referred to 28-34 Jackson as a 53 story tower but later says it has 44 stories. |

I puts some numbers of some (not all) of the nearby developments that are in various stages of construction...it's like someone planted an instant skyline garden.

What is the reason for that barren empty space near the gotham tower?
