What material did they use for the renovation of the roof of the Westin hotel? I remember somewhat recently, that building had a nice copper roof but now it's an odd looking brown.

The material is still copper.

Hey btw is the Stroh Brewery still there?

Beautiful! Have they renovated lots of historic buildings lately? I remember so many posts with old buildings that felt into disrepair.

They don't build them like they used to.

Most of the historic properties in and around the core of the city have been renovated, are being renovated, or have plans for renovation. The skyscraper graveyard era is over.

One of my favorite cities! I looked at all three threads. I love the building stock in this city and it's great to see the restorations! Detroit has some of the best lobbies. I'm excited to see what the Book Tower will look like, when work is completed.

Great pictures! Detroit has an immense wealth of commercial building stock, and magnificent Art Deco buildings!

Nope, you can't. This section of the lobby with those elevator bay entrances are just obscenely deco - like the most art deco-y thing I have ever seen.

wow superb images, especialy with the towers.

stunning. some of the best, if not the best, collection of early 20th century architecture on the planet.

Thank you for the compliment, according to Wikipedia: "On February 8, 1985, Stroh announced that it would close its 135-year-old brewery on Detroit's east side. Chairman Peter Stroh said that the facility was simply outdated and had no room to expand. The structure was imploded the following year." Also from that website: "In August 2016, Pabst partnered with a brewery in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood called Brew Detroit to begin brewing batches of Stroh's Bohemian-Style Pilsner, a beer derived from an original 1850's Stroh's recipe. The first batch was shipped to area bars, restaurants, and liquor stores on August 22, with special events all across metropolitan Detroit on the 26th."
