I haven't been able to find anything online. About a year ago, there was a proposal to build a new small theater on the site of the old Robert E Lee Theater near West End. Has anything come of that?

So. Much. Hotel. Construction. I guess we’re sticking to tourism, and doubling down. Seriously though, I do hope the DXC jobs spawns further job growth, and the new airport brings more flights which could help business growth.

It certainly seems like we’re due over overcapacity at some point! Then again, maybe more hotel rooms will drive down costs and keep the proliferation of AirBnBs under control. It’s sad what’s happening to the Treme and Marigny/Bywater.

Edit: hotels must be making plenty of money already if they keep building new ones as YoY numbers tend to be flat or declining.

It's a lot of projects, but on average, they aren't very large. 1000-2000 rooms under various stages of development is not all that much for a major tourist, event, and convention destination. Plus the AirBnB regulations took a lot of those properties out of the market, especially in the FQ.

To compare:
Market Name As of August 2016
New Orleans 1,381
Atlanta 1,580
Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla. 1,878
Orlando, Fla. 2,129
Nashville, Tenn. 2,703
Houston 5,625
Dallas 5,143
New York 16,301

About 95% of sheetrock has been installed at the new Delgado Community College River City campus. Next up: brick, metal paneling and curtain wall exteriors. When completed, the $20M design-build project will yield classrooms and hands-on training labs for students to learn skills such as welding, shipfitting and more.

NEWMAN SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY CENTER
Newman Science & Technology Center
The new Isidore Newman Science & Technology Center is a three story, 33,212 square foot state of the art facility situated adjacent to the Lemle building and Henson Auditorium on a compact site on the south portion of campus. The building serves as an instrument to put education on display. The exterior design reinforces this concept with its transparency while also being considerate of its context in both materiality and form, utilizing light brick and standing seam metal roof it builds on the architectural language of recently developed buildings on campus to further reinforce the architectural identity of Isidore Newman School. The hip roof and the rhythm of the façade are an ode to the surrounding vernacular of the uptown neighborhood.

The new Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center expansion will add 100,000 sf of space to the facility. The newly constructed 6-story building will be tied into the existing building, creating a single connection point between the two. The expansion, which will double the size of the Cancer Center, will result in more than 26 personalized and semi-private patient chemo infusion stations, infusion and clinic spaces for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) patients, and a new patient wellness space. The wellness space will be used primarily for patient education and support groups, but will also have space designated for yoga and meditation.
