DARWIN Northern Territory

Darwin is Australia's northernmost city and is the capital of the Northern Territory. It was almost wiped out twice in the past 100 years, once by bombing in WWII and in 1974 by Cyclone Tracy. To its credit it has emerged as a young vibrant multicultural city of 117,395 people (as at Dec 2007) which is beginning to grow in stature every year.

Here are some recent photos of a city growing up.

Yeah,... hot and humid for 8 months of the year. Warm/hot and dry for 3-4 months of the year.

i dont understand why would anyone want to live in apartments when there is plenty land around the city? im pretty sure traffic isn't too bad for commuting to and back from the CBD from suburban areas?

Darwin has the youngest population of any major city in Australia. Young people sharing accommodation can't be bothered with the maintenance required for tropical front and back yards. Also most of Darwin's entertainment areas are within the CBD rectangle where all these buildings are being built. Walk to the clubs and stagger home!!!!
