Rumors are swirling about Regent Square possibly being back on the boards after a long wait. I wonder if they will stay close to the previous design or it will be a total redesign.

Per Lockmat's source on HAIF:

Quote:

Very little information is known about GID's time table for commencement of construction. It is rumored that they are redesigning portions of the plan due to the robust economy in Houston. This week surveyors were flagging the Allen House site which may indicate some advancements with the planning. I also have observed activity at the RS office lately. Last Thursday, the Dunlavy windows were open revealing a full-scale model of what is to come.
As discussed on HAIF, it could mean that the project is adding more apartments.

Theres so much construction going on in Houston right now, its awesome. Maybe we have no major skyscrapers going up right now other than BBVA but plenty of mid rises and infill going on everywhere.

Can somebody post some pics of the Anadarko construction? It's my understanding they have the crane up already. Plus would like to see what progress, if any, has been done on Waterway 3. I would take the pics, but I now live out of state. Still partial to the hometown tho :)

photoLith Mar 2, 2012 3:38 AM

I was just there about 6 days ago and they had cleared the land and a whole mess of people there walking around and doing prep work but didnt see any crane yet.

Yeah, I assume the crane was up when saw a picture on wiki, then I notice it was dated back in 2006.

Certainly but that's what's going on with the multifamily boom currently happening inside the loop and Uptown.

Ashby Highrise:

Mayor Parker: City Will Settle for an Ashby Highrise 2 Stories Shorter

Quote:

...Instead, Parker writes that the settlement will allow the city to “ensure some control” over certain aspects of the multi-story residential tower: “It will also eliminate any possibility that the developers can build a project as large as that sought in 2007, or that the City may be subject to damages for its failure to approve that permit applications, either of which can happen if the City loses the current litigation.”

Under the terms described in the letter, the city will grant a permit for a highrise 21 stories high (excluding the roof) that meets certain traffic conditions. That’s 2 stories shorter than the permit already granted by the city, but the height cap may not reduce the number of residential units in the building. “One such qualifying plan consists of 228 residential high-rise units, 10,075 square feet of quality restaurant use, and four residential town homes,” Parker writes. “In addition, the project will incorporate a pedestrian plaza as envisioned in the foundation permit plan originally filed in 2007, which enhances the appearance of the project fronting Bissonnet.” (See drawing above.)
Other negotiated items in the proposed settlement: driveways for trucks and passenger vehicles facing both Ashby and Bissonnet, with some restrictions; an 8-ft. fence along the south and east property lines; plantings on the south and east walls of the building’s 5-story parking garage; and various lighting and noise protections for neighbors. Plus, tower residents will have free loaner bikes and a free weekday shuttle service to and from the Med Center.

New Apple Store:

HIGHLAND VILLAGE APPLE STORE TO DEBUT WITH THE IPAD 3

Quote:

The Apple Store still under construction at the corner of Drexel and Westheimer in the Highland Village Shopping Center will open just in time for the debut of the iPad 3. If, that is, workers scramble quickly enough to get the glass-roofed, walk-through structure ready to open by March 16th —

Black cover is hiding the glass that will make up the front, ceiling, and back of the building.

That's what that's going to be, an apple store; I was wondering what they've been doing there. That's pretty kick ass. There's not too many apple stores that aren't part of some giant mall here.
