New Dutch HS-train for the Amsterdam-Brussels line:
http://www.e-messenger.nl/nsi/200703...wsbrief_01.jpg can it be any uglier...? |
yeah, not a fan of the design at all. It's good that there are many differentlooking trains, yes, but... ew.
What happened to this? http://www.highspeedalliance.nl/stat...impression.gif http://www.highspeedalliance.nl |
I doubt that's an actual design.

What's the top speed and the manufacturer ?
Do you have any details ? |
So this will be the third HST in the Netherlands after the Thalys and the ICE.
Actually I had no clue that NS also operates ICE trains until I was standing in the Biljmer station in Amsterdam 4 weeks ago and all of a sudden an ICE train with an NS logo on it was driving past. Does anybody know what route is being served by them? Amsterdam-Cologne? |
Grumpy can you comfirm that that is an actual train. I don't think it is...
NS Hispeed is just the new name of all the HSR services in the NL. |

I still don't see anything that convinces me that that is an actual design...;)
Upon researching a bit... http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSL-Zuid#Aanloopproblemen I believe this is the actual HST that's going to run the domestic route in the NL. The Italian ETR 500: http://www.tecnospace.net/amn/db/imm...mn/Etr-500.gif So it appears that the trains on the pic Swede showed are going to run the NL domestic route and not the "train" on the pic you showed :). Unless you have another source? |

The video doesn't say when the service will start. The trains that appear in the video look like toys. I guess this doesn't mean anything. |
TGV : new unofficial speed record : 568 km/h

nice video LGV Est : http://www.essaisrff.com/actualites_avril.html
The image of the train that Swede showed is the 1st concept to be built by AnsaldoBreda and designed by Pininfarina. They are supposed to run between Amsterdam and Brussels , that is true. On the other hand which train appears in the NS HISpeed website is new to me. The image of the ETR 500 of SHiRO is to my knowledge only allowed to run in Italy, altough this HST is one of the best designed modells of ... Pininfarina. |
TGV : Official speed record at 574.8 Kph

So yes: the bad news is that those trains are going to run the domestic service...NOT the sleek looking ones already in use in Italy... |
Does anyone have a video of this TGV world record?

The one in the top pic looks like the cab of a truck!

All sources I read state that AnsaldoBreda is going to deliver the trains in 2008. The clip on the official site is just an animation, a commercial, NOT AN ACTUAL DESIGN. Are we to believe that said animation is to be produced into a real functioning HST in under 1 1/2 years? I don't think so... Give me an actual design or a credible source please. Even an article stating the AnsaldBreda trains have been cancelled would be enough. A promotional clip is not going to cut it... http://www.highspeedalliance.nl/stat...l/treinen.html |
Well - I find it credible enough. I for one can't imagine NS HiSpeed would use a 'fantasy' train in its commercials less than a year before the company goes into business. If they would have chosen for a different design, then why not use that one?
Of course: it could all be a hoax after all, and we might eventually still see a sleek HST on domestic routes. But I've got this feeling that is not going to happen. Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see ;) |
