Great pics! Lots of Dallas love lately and rightfully so! A thread where no one can come in and say "where are all the people"

koolkid Jul 16, 2013 6:02 AM

Looks like an actual city with all those people walking downtown. That old building with all the turrets was stunning! I had no clue Dallas had those buildings downtown. Well done.

nice tour, thanks for the pics. it's been 3 years too long since i was last there

Thanks, there are still a few late 1800's and early 1900's buildings around in the west side of downtown and in the Deep Ellum neighborhood. The building that is pictured is the old red courthouse, built in 1892 and is definitely the most elaborate of the bunch. Though, nothing like the northeast, the walkability of Dallas is definitely improving in downtown, uptown and a few other areas.

The building is from 1892, the clock tower on the building is less than 10 years old. Old Red had foundation issues back in the 30's and the original clock tower was torn down.

The Catholic church on Ross Street also had it's bell tower recently re-erected.

I don't know why I'm saying this... I just am.

:haha:

:haha: I just saw the joke today. Heck, I didn't even compute it before somebody did it with the proper accent.
Bah, I'm in France.

Great pics. I like that offbeat look of the place.

Great work.

Thanks. I hope to add some more pics sometime soon.

Makes me want to visit Dallas even more! Thanks for your hard work

BigcityD. I was fascinated with the city back in the 60s after seeing pics with all those new(back then) bank building towers: Republic, First National, Mercantile, and Southland Life. Now they're almost hidden in a sea of talls. Thanks for the tour.

SignalHillHiker Aug 6, 2013 3:25 PM

I misunderstood the title. Still, great thread. :)

dc_denizen Aug 6, 2013 11:34 PM

I think even Roald Dahl would like Dallas after seeing these pics!

The skyline is constantly changing these days. Four new highrise projects have been announced this week alone.
