Nice job on the intro page!

Alright for Philly!

I always wanted that lot on Market street to be develop... Of course there still the one between 19th and 20th to be develop.

I really like this building. Hopefully this will bring more people to Market Street at night time!

Awkab Jan 4, 2006 3:29 PM

Beautiful design. And I really enjoyed (laughed at) some of those renderings by the Murano team. City Hall is so tiny! As long as they stay faithful to the renderings of the actual building though, they can draw pigs flying over the city for all I care.

LOVE IT! The Murano is going to really add to the Market Street scape. Now all they need to do is tear down The Forum and Le Gals! Anybody know if there are plans to do so?!?!

Philly-Drew Jan 4, 2006 3:42 PM

WOW! Lookin' great. I'm very happy to see this project getting off the ground.

giovanni sasso Jan 4, 2006 3:59 PM

awkab, yeah, the representation of the city is laughable in those renderings, to the point of cartoonish, but the building itself is fantastic looking. this is my second favorite of the condo towers (after mandeville place, of course), so i'm happy to see all the work being done on site. guess i'll update my own site to reflect construction too, heh heh ...

jrdizzy Jan 4, 2006 4:04 PM

This is great! I was starting to get a little skeptical about some of the proposed condos ever getting off the ground. Especially since city council is kicking around the idea of repealing the 10 year tax abatement. But now that there is a hole in the ground, we might be able to see Murano and Comcast going up at the same time later this year.

colemonkee Jan 4, 2006 4:07 PM

Congrats Philly! This building kind of reminds me of 1255 S. Michigan in Chicago from the waist up. Makes sense since they're designed by the same architects. 1255 turned out really nice, so this one should too.

Londonee Jan 4, 2006 6:03 PM

have we had an official announcement from the developers that actual construction has commenced? i hope we arent jinxing anything by jumping the gun with this thread...does anyone know if there is an official groundbreaking and when it's scheduled for?

kazpmk Jan 4, 2006 6:13 PM

Swinefeld, since you and the philly IV now consider this building under construction, would you say it began construction in Dec 2005 or Jan 2006?

December 2005.

Londonee, we have all the elements of a construction site. Look at the pictures.

sasso, get busy updating!

UCityPhila, the building that houses Les Gals look historical. They will probably never tear it down. I bet it's one of the oldest buildings on Market Street. I can't believe the Forum is still around.

Awkab, the official rendering is laughable as to the scale and placement of the other center city skyscrapers. We all had a good laugh!

Check back for frequent updates!

woohoo!!

the matrix picture's sweet too.

phillyskyline Jan 4, 2006 10:21 PM

Nice job setting up everything Swiney Swine!!! JRDizzy, great point about seeing Comcast & Murano possibly rising up at the sametime, can you imagine the cranes rising? It will look like a construction boomtown, lol.... Maybe even 1919 Market can join the party!

ItsConanOBrien Jan 4, 2006 10:51 PM

Looks great! I look forward to following the progress of this tower thanks to all of the Philly photographers.

rdm Jan 4, 2006 10:53 PM

whoa! great job. this one i felt really crept up on everyone! :)

volguus zildrohar Jan 5, 2006 12:53 AM

Last January we got great news on Comcast Center and now the first of 2006's buildings begin. Fantastic.

Time for me to get back to work.

MJPhilly Jan 5, 2006 2:14 AM

I was near the site tonight and it definitely looks like construction is imminent. There is a drilling machine on site near the northwest corner.

These photos kinda suck but here they are:
