Hmm, I thought the Kamotiq Office Complex was already finished construction, isn't this the same office building that has the new First Nations Bank of Canada branch?

Its been kinda finshed for a year now, but there is minor touch up work going on, There is a new foundation erected just to the west of it.

Some great looking 'northern' architecture going up in Iqaluit. Will help the city to form an identity as a capital city, no doubt.

For the north, Iqaluit sure is taking off. If only we had newer and better subs and kept them in a deep-sea port/submarine base in Iqaluit.

“Hopefully, the time has come for some of these projects, the majority of which are more than 20 years old,” Hoefer said in his Sept. 27 presentation at a panel discussion on “Nunavut: The Next Decade — Getting Your Share of Major Developments,” now posted on the chamber’s website.

Mines can be a powerful driver to new infrastructure, he said, leading to the construction of ice roads, all-weather roads, ports, railroads and hydoelectric developments.

In Nunavut, some 600 kilometres of roads could be required, he said.

You are starting to see the intial investment happening in Rankin Inlet and Chesterfied Inlet. With Addition and Expansions to hotels and an incredible amount of new housing Rankin is getting 2- 30 and 40 unit apartments.

Does anyone have any information on any highrise or lowrise developments going on in Yellowknife? Seems that city has been largely left out of the current nation-wide highrise construction boom.

Also, any concrete proposals out of Iqaluit lately would be fantastic. :D

No major highrise work planned for the next little while. The INAC proposal was just that and I have not heard if it is going ahead. The only exciting work is going on Underground. Using the Conn Mine for district heating.

As for Iqaluit. Everything is in the proposal or study phase. But I hear the NAC repurposing is moving forward.

Heard of at least one diamond mine in Nunavik. Not much else.

The mine is only 200 km north of Mistassini, south of the Nunavik border.
