Permits have been filed with the Department of Buildings for another new hotel in Lower Manhattan. 215 Pearl Street will have 39 stories and 320 hotel rooms, although the permits are pending due to the review process.

The building will be occupied by two Marriott hotels, a Residence Inn and a Courtyard. The Residence Inn will take up the building's upper floors and have 120 rooms, while the Courtyard will be on the bottom floors and have 200 rooms.

Not thrilled with that design - very cold looking.

Coldrsx Sep 23, 2012 12:12 AM

Atrocious.

NYguy Sep 23, 2012 12:24 AM

Not our proudest moment.

They both honestly look like prisons.

Or something from the old Soviet Block :haha:. Heres to hoping for some changes if this goes through.

SkyscrapersOfNewYork Sep 23, 2012 4:50 PM

This part of town always seems to get nothing but crapitecture...

pico44 Sep 23, 2012 7:46 PM

Oh dear God no.

NYC4Life Sep 23, 2012 8:02 PM

Lower Manhattan already has enough of these ugly public housing looking buildings.

LMich Sep 24, 2012 7:24 AM

The white facade isn't half bad with how they asymmetrically break up the windows to give you something interesting and fresh to look at. But that view from the other angle is just plain horrible.

The white is 6 Platt, a different hotel that is also going up.

Anyone notice that this combo of hotels, a Courtyard and a Residence Inn, is the same combo going up on 54th Street at 1715 Broadway? I don't get why Lower Manhattan designs for anything that's not a showpiece building have to be hideous. Especially since they commissioned a much better tower housing the exact same pair of hotels for Midtown. Even the design for LA near the Staples Center is better than this. :sly:

My guess is that the financial district isn't sexy enough - yet. Midtown gets its fair share of hotel crap going up, just not quite as bad as this

UrbanImpact Sep 24, 2012 12:58 PM

Even the low wealth residential buildings in the old Simcity game look better than this crapola.

Unfortunately this pile of crap is well on the rise. Photos from EastMillinocket @WNY.

WOW that was fast! I need to get down here, there are a ton of 25-40 floor towers now u/c in the FiDi.

ILNY Oct 7, 2013 4:49 AM

Pictures above are not of 215 Pearl tower but 6 Platt St which is right next to it. 215 Pearl has not started yet and 6 Platt St is still under construction but the thread has been moved to completed projects so I will post some pictures of Platt tower here.

They just don't make bricks like they used to!

Dear god, who the hell approved that thing?

It almost reminds me of a crumbling tenement building.
