Nice photos... pity about the dreary weather.
I think Prague's old town is actually quite large as those go, especially when including the lower town on the other side of the river. It's more than enough to keep one occupied for a few days. And it's not like the "new town" is really new, it's a 19th century city. Plus, there's only so much time you can spend wandering around the old town admiring architecture and seeing historical sights, while being mobbed by other tourists. Most of the good, non-touristy restaurants and nightlife are outside of the old town. |
Prague is great, nice pics. Haven't been there in many years; need to go back. And, yeah, I think Old Town is pretty big, if you include both sides of the river.
I'm surprised there are still huge mobs of tourists even in October. Is Prague packed with visitors year-round now? It looks like Venice, Florence, type off-season crowds (i.e. unrelenting regardless of season). |
Prague is amazing. I want to go there someday. How does it compare to other European capital cities? It is on par or better/worse than Budapest, Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam?

Prague's outer neighborhoods are pretty hideous (endless grim commieblocks), but the core is absolutely gorgeous. Now to live, obviously Copenhagen or Amsterdam, then Prague, then Budapest. But Prague, to me, is stunning. It's easily the nicest looking Germanic city; certainly prettier than Vienna. |
Weird, I have really true feelings about Prague, I never knew Pargue, nor been there.

Wonderful!

Thanks a lot guys!

It feels a bit more dated than Copenhagen and Amsterdam ( hard to blame it seeing how it was part of the Soviet Union until recently ) and for me that's part of the charm, but it does by no means feel neglected.. As I mentioned I think they should pedestrianize more of the city - they could still keep all the trams but the cars and the street parking is a shame as a lot of the streets have really great potential! It's no Paris or Rome, but it's a really nice city to spend some days in  |
Beautiful shots!
