Awesome!

What a cool little city, nicely maintained. The wonders of the ancient world: Troy, Rome, Utica, Schenectedy...

LMich Jan 18, 2010 9:02 AM

I'm so glad I clicked on this. What a beautiful, little city. This was an excellent tour of this city's city center inventory.

This...

Is awsome, as is this Second Empire masterpiece...

BTW, you show a pic of the former city hall, but no photo of the new one. What does the current city hall look like?

boden Jan 18, 2010 1:19 PM

Capital District represent!

Kurtman Jan 18, 2010 2:46 PM

The current city hall is temporarily in an uninteresting, rectangular office building that were formerly Verizon offices. They haven't built a new permanent one yet.

HomrQT Jan 18, 2010 3:14 PM

I love old city architecture. Great post sir.

Thundertubs Jan 18, 2010 5:01 PM

Troy has some great stuff downtown. I heartily support further posts from NY's Capitol District.

Nice comprehensive tour of the architectural highlights of my hometown.

Smellin' of Troy

Some spectacular buildings. I've stopped there many a time travelling to NYC but only along the interstate, never into town itself. Looks like I missed out.

Nice looking town. Good to see a bit of northern summer in the middle of winter

stormkingfan Jan 18, 2010 10:06 PM

Whenever I'm up in the Capital Dist., I like to treat myself to hanging in Troy. It's a true old NY town. About ten yrs. ago, a friend of mine, who, if he had been hiring, he would have hired me, but it just wasn't in the cards. If it had been, I would have looked for an apt. in S. Troy. Little Italy is/was in that neighborhood.

ItsConanOBrien Jan 19, 2010 1:40 AM

Thanks for sharing. Some real beautiful buildings up that way.

xzmattzx Jan 19, 2010 5:27 PM

Great pictures! Troy has some nice buildings!

Ex-Ithacan Jan 19, 2010 6:02 PM

Wonderful tour. I've only been to Troy a couple of times, but was impressed with its urban fabric and great old buildings. The last time I visited I drove from the south end to the north on Rt. 4, great way to see the city.
Thanks for the pics and welcome to SSP.

MplsTodd Jan 19, 2010 8:01 PM

I hate to sound repetitive, but Troy has an amazing collection of older buildings--one after another. WOW!
