92 John St N | 104.5m | 31 fl | Proposed
In front of Hamilton's DRP tomorrow, according to the NRU. The Agenda is not yet posted, but these low-res renderings were provided in the NRU. Emblem continues to invest in Hamilton..

I can't wait for the day when all of the houses in the core are gone and replaced by higher density housing. The last pic gives me hope.

Impressive, one can hope they find their way in control of the vast parking lots to the immediate south straddling Hughson.
|
I like it!
The third picture, showing that all towers in the city are being built the same height, is a little sad though. Prepare the tabletop! |

RIP Proctor building :(

Really hoping the city and emblem can hurry up and come to an agreement at 41 Wilson Street and get shovels in the ground this summer.
|
Developers may just be looking to time the market a little bit ahead of some uncertain economic times. Especially if sales are slow.
|
Ain't nothin' wrong with this.
|
Getting all those projects along John built would really transform the impression the downtown gives to visitors. Hope to see them go up.
|
For a quick second I thought the first rendering was Stelco tower.

It's still weird to see everything being built AROUND that 100% pure parking lot behind alectra where the eatons factory used to be and a couple of churches.. I remember seeing some stuff proposed there but with all the skyscrapers surrounding it itd be cool if it was something more community geared, like an arborium or community garden or something.. personally, I am not sad to see the proctor building go, it's dingy and dirty looking imo. I feel these towers will give this area less of a wasteland feel it currently has now. |
The full video of the DRP meeting has been posted on youtube.

I am really liking the flanking look on both sides this gives - this is one area where building all these giant skyscrapers makes sense as it really has become a wasteland down there.. the composite look actually really works here - esp with both being so different looking from each other. In a rare moment for modern builds, I approve! Also hoping they keep to the colours of the bottom since they match - asymmetrical symmetry is still symmetry - so I am happy haha.. https://i.imgur.com/78liRtWh.png The bottom of this image confuses me though - all these wonderful architectural reference images and then.. completely featureless ikea rectangles on the render..? It's sad that I get excited for a barrel vault or an arch these days lol.. |
Nothing new, but coverage on Urban Toronto on proposal

DA-23-051
96 John St N To construct a 31-storey, mixed use building with 383 residential units atop a 5-storey (16m tall) podium. 143 vehicular parking spaces are proposed within the podium. |
Wow this intersection will look so different in a few years. Don't really care for the design of this one or Design District but it's better then what we have.
Also wondering what's taking Design District so long to being construction. |
The worst part about Canadian condo towers by far is the podiums. You don't see that type of thing in any other country. It looks absolutely terrible from most angles.
