Thanks, I don't recall seeing a lot of Orlando threads here. Big changes in the last few decades.

Although I've flown in and out of Orlando many times, the only time I was downtown was in 1984. It's a totally different place now. Looks very good!
One thing very few people know is that there is significantly hilly terrain just outside of Orlando. The first time I drove from Orlando to Leesburg I was completely surprised at the terrain. The area the tourists see is pretty level, though. Thanks for the nice pics. |
Nice pictures! I remember driving around Downtown a few years ago before heading to the airport. There was actually a decent blend of old and new down there; there was plenty of new, which I would expect in the Sun Belt, but much more old than people (even on here) would imagine or admit. You captured the blend very well!

Nice pics of downtown and yes it is urbanizing I will however say that the rest of the city or the rest of the metro isn't.
Orlando is a sprawl monster in a very ugly way. Remember the scenes from Edward Scissorhands? It hasn't changed. |
To me, Downtown Orlando has always seemed like a very urban business park if you will. Not that it's a bad thing, but also not typical of most downtowns of large metro areas.
The sprawl does seem to go on and on but at least it's not cookie-cutterlike and boring (like up here in the GTA). It doesn't look like it'll stop growing anytime soon so it must be a good thing one way or another! |
Downtown Orlando looks great, nice to see something else from Orlando then just Disney World.

The Core of the City/Metro is urbanizing very nicely from SoDo up through Winter Park, Maitland and Altamonte Springs. I continue to be impressed with every visit 2 or 3 times a year. |

I haven't been there yet, oddly enough, but it is a city that has always interested me and I would like to visit soon. Thanks for sharing!
