Hocus Pocus.
Alakazamm. Super Good on ye TdotO. When did this happen? Chalk it to my lack of followup; but has this been flying under more radars than just mine? |

This office component is being anchored by Ernst and Young. I am trying to play catch up with developments, so hopefully all my new threads are not annoying anyone :). |
Ugh. I dislike this one, but hopefully it will be less noisome when built.
|
I thought there was a thread for this one, but can't seem to find it.
I'm in two minds about it. It's not a bad tower, but it just doesn't seem to fit right for me given its prominent location. So many folks will see it from Nathan Phillips Square that I would want something better looking constructed. But saying that, anything would be better looking than that concrete monstrosity that is the Sheraton Centre. This proposal reminds me too much of the Bank of America tower in NYC, which has nothing going for it other than height. At least we don't have some cheap spire ruining the look of this one. |
But it'll certainly break the boxy monotony in that part of the cityscape...as I see it, of course.
I am a bit confused by the renderings as to how the geometry stacks up. I'd have preferred to see more direct profiles instead of catty-cornered perspectives. For us non-metric types ::points to self::, this is just a hair over 656'. *Very* good for this area. |
ohhhh, Ernst and Young, fannncy!
|
Now all we gotta do is to make two more fancy buildings for the other two members of the Big Four :P
|
KPMG has the bay Adelaide centre, PwC 8 York, and Deloitte is the main tenant for bay Adelaide centre east. They are all getting new offices.
|
This one will be 189 meters.....
|
*Still* good.
600' (182.88 m) is a benchmark I base on the tallest structures on my home on Long Island, the four Long Island Power Authority chimneys. Twenty feet taller is great. Plus I forgot to mention that the facade looks interesting, though IMO slightly confusing in the renderings (reflective, translucent or something in between?). What it really looks like will hopefully reveal more detail. |
One of my favourite buildings going up in Toronto right now. I hope the glass ends up like ths shard.
|
Demolition of the existing buildings is starting today.

I have seen this type of construction, as noted, numerous times. |
problem is the floor height differences. the current building is 16 floors, but when the new tower complete the historic facade will be retooled to be just 13.
