Now, the building is 215 meters tall.56 out of 70 stories high.40 stories of steel and 26 stories of glass cladding.

Do you have pics or renderings or info on the project Spc fan?

chris08876 Dec 5, 2015 12:43 PM

Can a mod fix this title: HONG KONG -NEW WORLD CENTER-70 floors-265 meters

It looks sloppy.

Change to: HONG KONG | New World Centre | 869 FT / 265m | 63 FLOORS

Data is from here: http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=86503

Note: Its 63 floors. Confirmed by the CTBUH and the background info on the project. SSP diagrams lists it as 64, and the 70 floor figure in the OP is inaccurate. *

Some Background on the Project:

Quote:

New World Development's hotel management arm, Rosewood Hotel Group (formerly New World Hospitality) which operates the Rosewood Hotel & Resorts, New World Hotel & Resorts and Pentahotels brands, is developing two new hotels on the site of the demolished New World Centre on the harbourside at Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. The 600-room 63-storey Rosewood Hong Kong and neighbouring 334-room hotel are expected to open in early 2017. Rosewood operates over 40 hotels under the three brands in 14 countries including 16 under the Pentahotel brand in Europe and Asia and has a target of 80 hotels globally by 2020. It opened its first hotel under the Pentahotel brand in Hong Kong at San Po Kong in Kowloon in August 2013 and is seeking opportunities to build four more hotels in Hong Kong.

Thanks spc fan. Please feel free to show case Hong Kong if you have expertise. We need more Hong Kong action here. Just remember to make the title legible, and things like data and renderings for the project otherwise people on ssp get irritable because we like info.

Other than that, Hong Kong is an awesome city. IMO, best one in Asia, next to Shenzhen.

But Hong Kong, my city, is not growing fast these days. This building is one of two U/C high-rises in the city. Can you just imagine how slow are we?

spc fan Jan 3, 2016 3:14 AM

And there are VERY LITTLE renderings of this building. Hard to find.

I wonder why the slow down in Hong Kong. Places like Shenzhen are Ghangzhou are building hundreds of them. I guess its land prices and possibly that the rules are different in HK versus the mainland.

They also put some sort of cap on 300m + years ago but the number of 200-299m that have risen in the last couple of years is woefully low.

spc fan Jan 9, 2016 1:50 PM

Mabye you are quite right.

spc fan Jan 9, 2016 1:52 PM

And do you know how tall construction has reached? I bet it is around 250 m.

spc fan Jan 10, 2016 6:28 AM

But some say this building is 65/70 floors too. Can you check and see what makes sense to you?

New World Centre Redevelopment, Hong Kong

For many years, the Victoria Harbour has not experienced much change in its skyline. A new star of the Symphony of Lights will be born in 2017/18, stage by the redeveloped New World Centre along Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront. Strategically located, the Rosewood Hotel together with the new K11 flagship will be the latest and, most probably the last piece of magnificent jewel by the shore of the Victoria Harbour.

We have designed a special RGB+W wall washer, Giunto, to flow smoothly along the curves of the podium façade and together with strips of delicate lighting on the tower, we shall light up this new icon of Hong Kong.

spc fan Jan 17, 2016 3:48 AM

This building has reached almost its full height already.

spc fan Jan 17, 2016 4:01 AM

Maybe this building would be spectacular. I cannot wait to see its completion!!!

aaron38 Mar 15, 2017 2:39 PM

I just realized this building has a page, or I would have posted these already. I took a few, the building is right across from my hotel, and I went for a run along the promenade where it's quite prominent along the waterfront.
The building isn't complete yet, still a lot of cladding work along the base to be done.

I think this is the lowrise hotel portion.
