Tallest Proposed Building for Every Major City
As of right now, what is the tallest building proposed in each major american city including:
New York Los Angeles Chicago Houston Philadelphia San Francisco Dallas San Diego Austin Indianapolis Seattle Denver Boston Las Vegas Miami Minneapolis New Orleans Atlanta Jersey City San Antonio Nashville Honolulu and any others (hopefully I didnt forget anything big) The point of this forum is to post what the biggest skyscraper proposal in each city is, then to look back in a year or two too see how many of the proposals were built and how many new proposals came along |

^^^ hhmm.... The Honolulu proposal looks a bit questionable. The design is a exact replica/rip off of the Gas Company Tower in Los Angeles. Google image search it, windows and all are the same, the only difference is the top has been extended upward a bit.

The Nashville 505CST mixed-use tower posted earlier has been scrapped in favor of a different design. The developer is selling a portion of the site to the city for a large parking garage and plans to build a 750ft. all-residential tower on the remainder of the site. There will be enough spaces in the garage to accommodate the resident tower which would be Nashville's tallest if built. Here are the renderings:

You forgot Detroit, but I don't think we have much in the works right now. I think there is one short residential tower planned for downtown.

Salt Lake City - 111 South Main
380 ft/23 stories http://i.imgur.com/xByGDpH.jpg Just about to truly begin construction above a new Performing Arts Center (so maybe it's not in the proposal stage anymore, but it hasn't ~officially~ begun construction - demolition of old buildings is almost complete). Still not sold on the design, would prefer an angled roof and a better transition into the base (the theater), but it's better than many of the old 70s boxes that we have. It will be the 3rd tallest in the city. A new convention center hotel has been approved, but they're still searching for a developer. It's expected to be - and hopefully that will stay true - the new tallest in the city. |
San Antonio has two towers planned in the 600 ft range both to be of iconic status. The renderings have not been released yet. Other high rises are in the planning stages in various parts of downtown. San Antonio may be on the verge of an Austin style skyscraper boom. Hooray!

That Seattle proposal was a concept by an architect that didn't get selected. For some reason people on SSP saw some images and thought it was a proposal. There's no information about how tall the building might be, though the owner did say something this week about 1.1 msf plus housing, which does suggest a very tall tower. They also said they hired NBBJ as architect.
Otherwise we have an 800' proposal. |

I wouldn't call Salt Lake a major city but this is probably the tallest thing I've seen built here :/

Hudson Site Tower, Detroit. 734 feet and 52 stories, though, I'm not sure if the floor count is just the tower or includes the podium levels. Site prep works starts in December:

6X Guadalupe in Austin, 848 Ft. It looks like it will be starting construction by the end of the year and is currently in the demolition phase.

Kensington Tower in Salt Lake City will be 40 stories. The Pantages Theater residential tower might be taller than that.

Austin:
6XGuadalupe is no longer proposed. It has gone vertical.
