Park Place's Most Shocking Building Actually Getting Built
Friday, February 3, 2012, by Sara Polsky

The rendering for a new 21-story condo building at 19 Park Place was mind-blowing enough when the Ismael Leyva design came to our attention in late 2010. Here's what's even more mind-blowing: it's actually getting built. Tribeca Citizen recently noticed a construction update sign at the skinny lot and uncovered the intel that construction on the building will begin in the next few weeks. The sign gives the construction an end-date of November 2013. The Leyva design—which the developer confirms is still the one being used—has thoroughly normal interiors, at least according to the old renderings. But it's not the interiors the neighborhood's likely to worry about.

Super cool. I'm pretty sure these are going to be unbelievably expensive, but just a great use of limited space.

Whoa. Another sliver from Ismael Leyva.

Doing the math this building is going to be anywhere between 200 to 300 feet tall.

Loving the name haha. Tribeca Royale has a good ring to it

NYguy Jun 7, 2013 7:58 PM

I haven't seen it viewed from the other side. I do hope it's not a blank wall, but likely it isn't.

Crawford Jun 7, 2013 8:01 PM

This building is pimp-tastic. It would be a cool place to live if I were an International Man of Mystery.

Busy Bee Jun 7, 2013 11:58 PM

No lot line windows means that the air rights over the building stuck in the middle are not owned. Does this mean they are expecting another sliver to go up between this and the tall building?

Ismael Leyva Architects’ design fits 24 residences into a 292-foot tower on the narrow site. The upper 11 floors contain full-floor units, with duplexes on the 7th and 8th floors. Every unit will feature windows on Park as well as Murray. The 53,000-square-foot project also includes a double height lobby, gym, residents’ lounges, and ample terraces. “Our goal with the Tribeca Royale was to create a state-of-the-art residential building that showcases unique urban design given the constraints of the site, while efficiently maximizing space,” said Ismael Leyva in a statement. “This design offers unique residences in a very desirable downtown location”

While AN eagerly awaits its shinny new neighbor, it seams like construction crews have been doing more digging than building over the past few years. A worker on site confirmed that problems with the foundation have been the cause of the delay, but with activity on the site seemingly never ceasing, one can assume that something must be going up soon.

Quite ugly, to be honest.

UTEPman Mar 11, 2014 3:14 PM

For a small thin building, it's moving up at a snails pace

reencharles Mar 15, 2014 1:12 AM

Great. This building raised one floor in the last 5 months.
