Those row houses are amazing. Photos are very devoid of people....but the buildings are great.

Nice pictures! I always love seeing Harrisburg, although I usually just drive past. Downtown has great building stock.

InTheBurbs Dec 9, 2013 3:56 AM

I always think of Harrisburg this time of year. All the stores downtown used to decorate their windows with Christmas displays (Santa, trains, elves, etc) and we'd go there to check them out. Thanks for the visual update!

I always felt Harrisburg was the creation of Philadelphia having a baby with West Virginia.

Nice tour and nice city. Thanks for your pictures of Harrisburg, Thundertubs.

Beautiful architecture and very pretty Capitol. I like the stone facades in many buildings.

Congrats and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

Harrisburg looks great!

ChrisLA Dec 10, 2013 2:38 AM

Nice, its been a number of years now since anyone posted photos of Harrisburg.

Wheelingman04 Dec 12, 2013 10:01 PM

It looks like it a lot bigger skyline-wise than it's population though the city's land area is so small it is ridiculous.

Yorkie Dec 13, 2013 11:04 PM

:omg:..The Burg is looking capital...:star::photographer::eek::tup:

Austinlee Dec 15, 2013 2:28 AM

Dang. Some of the housing stock is killer then other parts are completely junk. It's a shame.
But downtown looks amazing. And I bet VERY few people who work there actually live in it.

Good call. It totally has some Philly housing but most of it just looks straight up like Charleston, WV.

Yorkie Dec 15, 2013 6:44 PM

Both towns do have similar housing but to compare the two and say they are a creation of some mingling is not so. They are from the same era, just as similar eras can be reflected in towns/cities past and present.
......If you go to any suburban suburbs today they all look very similar..:hmmm:

Twins, IMO.

Harrisburg voters recently ousted Mayor Linda Thompson. We thought we had it bad with her until we heard about Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

Evergrey Dec 18, 2013 2:42 PM

Great job... Harrisburg has a really impressive "big city" downtown... love the shot of the cooling towers.

I believe those cooling towers belong to the infamous 3 Mile Island.

For a smaller medium sized city, it definitely has a larger city feel to it. Thanks for the photos!!

in all my time in harrisburg, i don't think i've ever seen that ymca. that's great. excellent set, tubsie. great attention to detail on the PA capitol. on the side facing the river, there are sculptures of allegorical figures, nudes in the ancient greek style, and one of the dudes has a boner.
