AUSTIN | Inspire on 22nd | 185 FEET | 18 FLOORS | Complete
My last post in the update thread about the "Capstone Hotel" as well as my last post in the Skyloft thread about it possibly changing its name were actually for this new project. It's called "22 West Residential" and will be 18-stories. There will be four underground parking levels, and the first two floors will be for "student gathering and support." Levels 3-18 will be residential.
It's being developed by Capstone Collegiate Communities: http://www.capstonecollegiatecommunities.com/ The construction contract has already been awarded to Hoar Construction: http://www.hoar.com/media-article/ho...ategy-to-grow/ From the contractor: Quote:

It's just down the street from where Skyloft is going up, and the construction fencing for Skyloft can be seen in this Streetview photo: http://i.imgur.com/DFvQV7o.png |
Here's the list I have of West Campus projects that are over 10-stories:
Skyloft - 18-stories 22 West Residential - 18-stories Aspen West Campus – 17-stories 2100 Nueces - ~17-stories Marriott – 11-stories |
Crazy how dense West Campus is and is going to be.

I was thinking of creating a list/map, but you will probably beat me to it. :D
|
Can you start a list of those smaller projects? I know 2100 Rio Grande is one. Rowling Hall is another building going up in the area, though it won't house anyone.
|
Is west campus not the densest part of Austin yet?
I remember living in one of those classic 6-floor apartment buildings that take up half a block. Good to see some taller buildings going up around there though. Hopefully it will lead to some more non-residential development in the area. |

Yep. I was just commenting on how much more dense it is becoming.

Site plan with elevations. They show it to be 186 feet with 18 floors. The lobby level is 0 feet on the elevations and the average site elevation is 6 inches lower than that number. There's also an another line dropping 1 foot 5 inches below that 0 foot line that shows part of the building reaching that point. This also gives a hint at the design, and it'll have an interesting main roofline that will be slanted on all sides. If this was complete today it would be Austin's 73rd tallest building listed between the IBC Bank Plaza and the Hyatt on Barton Springs. |
The site plan was approved and released this week. The elevations (pages 17-20) show an angled roof line.

Nice! Will help to break up the plateau a bit. |
The place is now being gutted as the big boys continue utility work.
