LRT Map

Hello all, been a while since I've come by.

But with Crowfoot opening soon, its time to update that Wikipedia map again. I've attatched what I have so far, bear in mind it's a work in progress. Let me know what you all think!

Jeff

Not bad.

Stang May 23, 2009 4:16 PM

Looks great! One small detail - the city is now saying 2012 for Tuscany / Rocky Ridge.

Thanks! I'll get that corrected soon!

Looks good. I know we discussed this the last time you posted a map, but Franklin Station being on the north/south portion of the NE line rather than the east/west still kind of sticks out to me.

I'll think about it, the size of the map is already a tad on that large size, but then again the West Line sticks so far out already... Hmm... :P

mersar May 23, 2009 8:03 PM

You could probably bring the west line in a bit if you made a bit of an angle so westbrook is on a diagonal between 26th and 45th

Beltliner May 23, 2009 8:07 PM

For that matter, having West Tenth and West Eleventh represented on the same map would be redundant, as West Eleventh will ultimately replace West Tenth. Adjusting the west leg of 202 so that Sunalta sits where West Eleventh is rendered now would leave you the room on the right side of the map to put Franklin back into an east-west alignment.

So that means for now, I should drop 11th ST WEST?

Couple other notes...
  • 73 (and 9 and 91) from Brentwood goes to ACH, 72 doesn't
  • 91 from Lions park is actually easier to get to Foothills then the 20 from University (partially as 20 hits the U of C in both directions)

Champion3 May 23, 2009 10:35 PM

^ Saddleridge is misspelled as "Saddelridge."

The 72 doesn't go to ACH? But, but I ride it all the time when I miss the 20?

I'll look into adding 9 and 91, but space is a little limited in the bubble.

@Champion3, issue will be corrected at the next release. Good eye!

The 72 does go to ACH, but its at ACH before it goes to Brentwood.

I would replace 'Tuscany - Rocky Ridge' with 'Tuscany / Rocky Ridge'
...I thought this station will open in 2011.

I heard Saddletowne instead of Saddleridge. I could be wrong...

mersar May 25, 2009 5:32 AM

Both extensions have been delayed to 2012 unfortunately.

The name for the Saddle Ridge station is Saddle Ridge, it had been called Saddletowne at one point but it got changed back. And I do see that it looks like the name itself has a typo on the map (-el instead of -le and it should have a space in it). As for the name of the Tuscany station, I wouldn't worry about it yet. Most city documents still refer to it as the "Rocky Ridge/Royal Oak and Tuscany Station", there will likely be a bit of debate before any name is officially set for it.

I know i don't live in Calgary, but one thing i noticed was the directions from a station to a place of interest/city service are really dim and quite hard to read at a glance.. maybe brighten them up just a tad?

I wonder what the usage levels are for 39th Ave and Barlow/Max Bell stations? Whenever I've used the LRT past those stations, there's hardly a soul getting off or on. And as for Zoo station, probably would be better to use that as a seasonal station, as I highly doubt people get on and off there in the winter?

I have used the 39th Ave station a couple of times when I had to go into downtown for a few hours. They've got some of those 4-hour stalls for that exact purpose. But I definitely wouldn't peg it as one of the busiest stations in the system.

I believe that the Zoo has (or had?) some Park n' Ride spots there, whether official or unofficial, I'm not sure. Does anyone know what sort of LRT parking, if any, is available there now?
