Some nice windows to replace the tiny slits should do a bit to improve the look. I'm just happy the building is getting some use.

Re-Clads are usually quite rare and expensive, especially in markets that aren't piping hot. One could make the argument that it would be useful in Toronto, if pushing into the higher end market and keeping pace with new builds. Medical Arts will definitely see a nice improvement, but with the watchful eye of a budget. Aside from the DUMB windows, there is little offensive about it... just not particularly inspiring.

^^^ The thing to watch is if the company has any further plans floating around for the surface lot to the north. Tasteful, small-scale CRU's please :D On the note of Graham Ave. the Hudson building is progressing very nicely for 24/7 in touch!!!! Martin Cash should profile it soon in the Free Press....

are the windows at the top whats making people upset?

if they keep them orange, then yea thats pretty dumb lol

bomberjet Jan 22, 2019 8:43 PM

What are people upset about? The orange is tarps lol

Kris22 Jan 22, 2019 9:13 PM

I don't think anyone's upset about this project. Ya, a full reclad would've been nice to eliminate some of the pervasive beige in our downtown, but large windows will help to break it up and make it more reflective. I'm all for these Timbercreek projects and hope they keep doing conversions/renos in the future.

Lol.

I guess it wasn't clear but I meant that the original windows are dumb, and I think replacing them with larger ones is necessary :P

Unfortunately re-clads are not easily justified in apt renovations. You don't get enough money back out of what you put in.

I kinda like the original windows

They are not "beautiful", but not ugly neither. Looks like art

Btw no surprise this thread already has over 1m viewer

bomberjet Jan 23, 2019 4:59 PM

Any word if another building will be put up by timber creek in the parking lot?

The beauty of this monolithic USSR styled building only needs to have a huge mural of Stalin on the side. It would be great for all the movies being portayed in the communist era.

Not ugly, really, building always looked like a vertical prison!

Wpg_Guy Jan 24, 2019 1:18 PM

With the windows punched out it won’t look too dissimilar from the BDC building in the background.

Authentic_City Jan 24, 2019 2:21 PM

I think it could look quite good with the full windows. Hopefully they don't paint it, but I imagine it will be painted grey like Colony Square. Seems to be the in-thing nowadays.

That's exactly it. It'll be fine. From what I can see, the bigger windows definitely change the look for the better.

I believe it will turn out exactly like 432 Park Ave in NYC

....except a little shorter.

Or a certain one of their other cold, austere buildings on Smith....
