Boise is Blossoming ~ Spring photo Extravaganza

Well, I have playing around with my new camera, wasting too much time so hopefully you enjoy. This will be a continuation thread of spring progressing in Boise with photos posted off and on and a thread or two posted in the main city photo forum.

I will still post a Boise River Greenbelt continuation thread later this spring, but am going to pm a few people who may want to be a part of it.

spring is a fine time in the City of Trees

In an internet forum full of overstatements -- this is an understatement IMO.

Great shots.

Thanks eastidaho. It is going to start getting crazy in a few more weeks, spring that is. The Boise River is supposed to hit flood stage Tuesday and it is only the first week of April.

Stenar, thank you. I like that building too. I will have to find out when it stopped operating as a bow and arrow store.

Beautiful Sawtooth... This thread brings sanity to this forum which has seen a lot of insanity the past 4 to 5 days. Your pictures clear the mind after reading some of the discussion going on in other threads.

All nice, I like the last one with the greenbelt tunnel and the river. I bet that any ducks that had built their nests along the river are pissed off because their nests have been washed away.

Wonderful photos sawtooth!

Sweet pics Sawtooth! What kind of camera did you end up going with?

BoiseAirport Apr 5, 2012 1:10 AM

Awesome job Sawtooth, thank you for snapping these and posting them here. I got inspired by looking through some of your previous photos to go out and snap some pictures of the Treefort Music Festival. I might go out again and get some photos while Spring is blossoming. The composition of your photos and your ability to capture all the fine details and little quirks throughout Boise is really great, and something I definitely look up to. :)

Man, I say this again and again, but the Transit art was such a great idea. I hope more things like this are implemented throughout Boise.

I don't understand why they installed new bus stop shelters. Aren't we supposed to get a new transit center?

Anyway, good pics sawtooth, your tour represents a pretty long bike ride. I love the green lawn at the Sewage Treatment Plant, they must fertilize it a lot. Have you ever checked out the Sewer Plant building itself? It's art deco and I keep meaning to post some pics of it.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Boysee Boi, I bought a Nikon D5100 and in the process of purchasing another lens or two for it. It is a completely different animal compared to my worn out point and shoot.

BoiseAirport, thanks for the nice compliment:) If you end up taking any photos feel free to post them here.

boisecynic, I have seen the sewage plant building a few times and it is a cool building. Do you know what year it was built? I found it humorous how the lawn near the sewage plant was lush green before the rest of the grass along the belt and parks was beginning to green up. Zamzows?

do you take requests? :D

i'd love to see someone do a "greenbelt tour" photo thread with images from lucky peak all the way through the city, and post it in the photo forum so people really get a sense of what a jewel this is.

i tell people from out of town about the greenbelt, and they just shrug their shoulders and say "meh, we have bike paths and parks, too."

and then they visit, and go "oh. nice!"

My regular exercise is road biking--if I can think of it perhaps on a nice weekend I can do this. It'd only be on a smartphone camera, though--certainly not as nice as whatever Sawtooth uses. :)

I agree it is a jewel, the greenbelt, the river and parks and the protected wildlife areas are really amazing.

The idea of a greenbelt photo thread has been on my mind too and actually I commented about it last weekend in the main projects thread. It would be a thread open for anyone to post photos, like a compilation, so I think we should do this. Boisecynic will need to contribute too because I know he knows the history behind the greenbelt based on posts in the past:) There are many historical areas that are interesting out in Harris Ranch and there is Oregon Trail history too along and near the greenbelt in East Boise.

City Of Trees, maybe we have seen or passed each other on our bikes in the past.
