[Surrey] Prime at the Plaza | 110m | 37fl | Completed
New proposal for a tower in Surrey City Center between North Surrey Rec Center and Ultra.
They don't seem to have a "project name" yet though the company is King George City Center Development Ltd. It will contain 3 ground level commercial/retail units and according to the planning report, expected to be complete/occupied by Spring 2017 so that would probably put construction early 2015 or late 2014 if the project moves forward. o 126 studio units; o 108 1-bedroom units; o 127 2-bedroom units; and o 11 townhouse units, with 2 bedrooms http://www.surrey.ca/bylawsandcounci...12-0327-00.pdf Some renders, looks to me similar to the Ultra building, so your standard residential tower: http://www.jhausner.com/Surrey/7912-0327/AerialNE.jpg http://www.jhausner.com/Surrey/7912-0327/UniDrSouth.jpg http://www.jhausner.com/Surrey/7912-0327/103AveEast.jpg |
Huh. I'd always thought that plot of land was going to SFU for their dorm towers / university expansion.

Any updates on this project?

Third reading drafting development permit right now from what i see. Nothing else new though including a name or developer though the design is by Bingham Hill Architects. They don't have it listed on their web site yet.

Evidently was adopted in September last year and someone mentioned some site-prep work on the property, maybe a sales center, not sure.
Either way I'm optimistically hopeful this is going forward. With Wave topped out and in finishing stages, the first Bosa tower under construction, the sales center for the next Urban Village tower "Evolve" set to open January, Wynd currently being sold and nearing start of construction, and the iconic 3 Civic under construction, this would be yet another boost to Surrey Central. Crossing fingers of things to come. |
The signs went up recently. I'ts called "Prime at the Plaza" I beleive. Might want to change the name of the thread.
I'm very happy that there's gonna be CRU's facing University Dr. |

What? Where is that?

That the construction site for BND (Bundesnachrichtendienst), the German Intelligence Agency headquarters in Berlin. I think I counted over 20 cranes on that huge site, but couldn't fit all of them in one photo.
In Berlin it is very common to have huge amounts of cranes on construction sites and not just the huge ones like the new airport, but also on normal residential building. It is common to see 3-5 cranes working on a project, whereas in Vancouver you rarely see multiple cranes onsite. Telus Garden had 4 and One Pacific has 3, but those are rare exceptions. I wonder why, as it should speed up construction time. :???: |
The title is updated.

Saw an ad for this project in the Metro paper today.

I'd be interested in seeing the layout - I usually think of micro-lofts as being studios.

Since I registered on their website, I got invited to a special pre-release next Tuesday, being held in the City Hall. I don't think they'll have floorplans ready, but I'll report back with what I see. |

The more micro-lofts they build, the more my non-micro loft condo will be worth... bring it on I say. As with others though, I'd like to know/see what the heck a 2-bedroom micro-loft is.
My feelings is they are basically the size of a standard 1 bedroom but they have 2 rooms that are very small and require everything to be compact. I dunno I'd rather have space than fiddly tiny rooms or those annoying sliding walls. But if you can't afford anything else *shrug*. |
