Sweet, I love the design.

The view of the LDS temple from that livingroom rendering, will be stunning at night when it becomes reality.

That is one huge development. Go SLC! All that built is as much as some mid size city downtowns all together!

I hope they do somoething to that huge Marriott to make the facade look better.

Besides that, great renderings! This will be one great project once it's finished, and hopefully will do great things for downtown!

Agreed aspiringArchitect, The interior did receive a very attractive overhaul and upgrade recently. Also, the exterior did get new windows and paint, etc., but I agree with you it could use an exterior reclad. I don't think it would take a huge amount of change either. The basic elements are there, it just needs a creative architectural mind.

On my wish list, I would like to see Marriott build the new iconic convention hotel, and this current Marriott converted into a very posh W brand. W is talking very seriously of locating a property downtown in the near future, but I think another plot has already been set aside for the W. Oh well... still a classy boutique hotel would do well at the Marriott site.

I love the renderings. While it is not an actual street, I love the recreation of Richards Street through CCC from S Temple to 100 S. Opening up the blocks will really do wonders for making the city much more walkable and pedestrian friendly.

I agree, Future Mayor. I think this will be a lovely area to stroll through when all is said and done, and it will provide a great transition between Temple Square and the rest of downtown. I hope Regent St. is this nice. The buildings relate to the street very well, and the landscaping will be fabulous--nearly as nice as the gardens on Temple Square, I hope.

T-Mac, awesome pics for the thousandth time. This project is so incredibly large and complex, and you manage to keep us posted from almost every viewpoint. Thank you!

A couple of things I don't get about this project, if anyone else knows, or wants to take a guess:

How long do they leave those yellow metal braces up between the concrete floors and ceilings? Is is still a field of yellow braces on the long-completed parts of the parking garage and basement on the Crossroads block?

Are they using an insane amount of rebar in the core of Tower 1? It seems to me like they are using twice what Tower 6 and 7 are getting. Would that just be because of the differences in height, and the additional structural load Tower 1 has to carry? Is this typical?

I'm going nuts waiting for this thing to get out of the ground and into our sky!

delts145 Oct 5, 2008 12:41 PM

Me too Tangeld, That location is going to make a great addition to our skyline. And wow, what a great place that area is going to be when completed, with it's upscale shopping, restaurants, and the new theatre and resurgence of Regent and Richards Streets.
