That view of Signature Tower is awesome. It will be even more impressive in person. West End Summit is very impressive as well. Nashville's very own twin towers.

I'm sure there are other things that are missing, but this should be enough to prove just how much is going on in Nashville that most people likely don't (understandably) even have a clue about. Things are changing for the better around here for sure.

Dr Nevergold Oct 4, 2006 7:55 AM

Thanks for kick starting the smaller projects. Without these numerous smaller projects the bigger ones wouldn't matter so much. Its important to build the city with the highrises.

PA Pride, yes both projects are ultra post-modern and I'm happy to see this kind of architecture coming out in both cities.

gannman Oct 4, 2006 10:48 PM

Nashville is on it's way up.......waaay up! Great thread.

BnaBreaker Oct 5, 2006 1:29 AM

Honestly I think i'm most excited about what is going on in East Nashville. If anyone has yet to visit that Martin's Corner website I suggest you do so. That project in and of itself will create several cohesive urban blocks. Add onto that the massive Wedgewood Park development and others, and consider the existing urban fabric and I think you have the makings of a pretty fantastic urban place.

Dr Nevergold Oct 5, 2006 2:16 AM

Link us the web site if you want. I don't have it.

Oh, my bad. The website is in the list of projects I posted, but I realize now that it is a bit hidden. www.martincorner.com

Hmmmm....well I would answer your question, but you just did...lol

reednavy05 Oct 8, 2006 4:34 AM

that is true, yeah i was drunk when i did that. I cant wait for it to break ground, im sure other nashvillians feel the same itll be the start of im most certain a major explosion in highrise development, not like there isnt enough already, cause there really isnt

Visiteur Oct 8, 2006 4:18 PM

That 28-story Pickard Chilton tower (in "The Gulch" I think) is still being proposed, right? I don't see it listed here.

Yes. That one is still a proposal. It has just been put "on-hold" until this winter while the Planning Commission reviews height restrictions in the area of the proposed site. I believe this one will ultimately go through. Tennessean Article

BnaBreaker Oct 8, 2006 5:38 PM

Ahhh yes how could we forget that one?!? I'm pretty confident that it will be approved as well. What's really behind that high restriction in Sobro anyway/?

reednavy05 Oct 8, 2006 8:35 PM

I emailed and talked to the city commissioner that runs that area where SoBro is. He said 3 meetings will take place to see what to do with the restriction. He honestly told me, it's it pretty pointless to have a height restriction in the SB district. He believes it will be taken back and allow the CORE to expand into the SB district. Hopefully so, because Nashville needs to fill all those blank parking lots and shotty buildings with magnificent architectural masterpieces

Dr Nevergold Oct 8, 2006 9:50 PM

That building better go up b/c the height restriction for the historic district preservation doesn't make sense. This isn't destroying buildings worth preserving and the "historic" 2nd district is already interwoven with other buildings like BellSouth, Caremark, and Hilton. There's zero reason to hold this up.

2nd avenue is a club district with a few old buildings, it hardly classifies as a place that needs to be protected from highrises.
