Yes, it is reassuring to know that in the geologically impossible event of the entirety of Lakes Huron or Ontario washing ashore, the nuclear power plants will survive. :yes:

Maybe not a tsunami but an earthquake of magnitude 6.0 or higher is not beyond the realm of possibility. Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? Not at all considering the St. Lawrence fault zone is right next door and is possibly as dangerous as the New Madrid Seismic Zone.

Fortunately we use CANDU reactors which are much safer than the Japanese reactors and can more easily be shut down in the event of an accident.
