Damn, that looks sexy. I like.

so awesome if that tooth-gap parking lot gets filled. I hate that ugly building across the street. The old one with the 3 sections of brick and two of glass.

New rendering from Panzini :

I think its alright, although it should be taller, at least 10 more floors. |
This project seems to be actually going ahead, despite the recession and all the NIMBYs who are crucifying this "extremely tall monster". Hey assholes, this is RIGHT in the middle of downtown. Also note the height increase from 28 floors in previous renderings and the now 34 floors! BTW can the mods please change the title of this thread too 34 floors?

yeah! 34 floors. or a parkinglot. what do those nimby's prefer? Christ all fuggin mighty.

Nice tower.

the mtlurb.com (former SSP members) have started a campaign in favour of this tower. The amount of spiteful vitriol in the press against this "immense" "Dubai-style" Tower is rampant. The article mentions mtlurb.com but also the SSP campaigners, which is odd because apart from me and 3 or 4 other people, the Montreal SSP is almost completely gone.

Thread should be updated though, it's 34 floors not 28! :notacrook: Oh, and i just came back from public consultations and everything looks good! I think this project has a very very good chance of going ahead! Official height is 109m by the way. |
Hope it gets built, that part of downtown needs an overhaul.

Congratulations Montreal, you've done it again.
This project has just been stamped as 'too tall' for this section of the city (4 of Canada's tallest skyscrapers stand less than 400m away) due to the sector's 'low density' (the sector is low density due to the large amount of surface parking lots and empty vacated fields surrounding the site). Their solution? It should be 28 floors. So they don't want a 34 floor skyscraper, instead a 28 floor building won't disrupt the integrity of the surface lots. Bravo. Thank you. Good luck. |
No update (hard to update a cancelled project) but Montreal has revised it's height densities recently, so hopefully this lot and the adjacent ones can start seeing towers pop up as has been the case a few blocks east (union tower, altitude etc)
|
The (former) developers of this site must be quite amused to see all these 40 floor proposals about to go up literally across the street, only a couple years after their 32 floor tower was denied for being too tall. I wonder if they know, and if they're planning on a comeback? I'll get my source to work on that.
