New photo set up on SWCRR site, look to be from early-mid October. Definitely a new group doing these photos. They look to be from a drone, and the photo set is smaller.

Edit: No photos of the Southland, 130th, Fish Creek Blvd, 22x, James Mckevitt, 6St, or Macleod interchanges.

Hopefully it's just a case of the rest not being posted yet. These are great photos! The Anderson Road crane shots are amazing.

Agreed on all accounts! I live right by the Anderson interchange, and its been really cool to see all the progress. They have made a ton of progress since that shot, and traffic will be diverted under it in two weeks:

I never go to that area so had no idea of the scale of the interchange. It's definitely a lot bigger than I was expecting.

It's also good to see that they're starting to use parts of the new infrastructure for detours. That's usually a good sign the finish line is closer than the starting line. Can't wait to drive this road!

What is the actual deadline to be done - I have Oct. 2021 in my head - or is that just for the portion through Tsuu T'ina ?

This article says May 2022 as a deadline: https://calgaryherald.com/news/polit...road-guarantee

IIRC they had seven years to finish from the day they signed the official deal. At the rate they're going they should easily be done on time.

That link takes me to the home page of the project site. Here's a photo of what they plan on doing. Does anyone understand where the new lanes, etc. will be? To me it looks some of the new bridges are being used. Are they done?

Yes, a number of bridges are done - I believe they’ll also be cutting over to the new bridge at Glenmore/37 Street this weekend (or very soon after). They’ve had lines painted and signals up for a while, and they’ve cleared the snow off the roads as well.

Westbound Glenmore going into Northbound Sarcee looks like it will be using the Southbound to Westbound bridge (creating another awkward crossover intersection), so there's a long way to go still.

I drove thru that area this afternoon going SB Sarcee to EB Glenmore. Huge delays now because of the weird crossover you mention. In the past the temporary light would last just a few seconds. Today it was super long and the volume of traffic was something else. The direction I was going now goes under that bridge and does a huge horseshoe detour to hook back up with Glenmore. The speed limit on the city part is back up to 80. However, when I exited onto Crowchild the fuckers have lowered the speed limit to 70 until you hit the next interchange. WTF are they thinking? It's been 80 all along. I can see the cops and photo radar guys hiding in this stretch trying to nab people. The province needs to take away from the city the right to set speed limits b/c they are abusing that power.

Some new West leg 201 construction photos. These guys are making great progress as far as I'm concerned.

That’s awesome!
I always loved the look of the existing bridge and it looks like this new span will be a twin.:tup:

Here's a video the City posted on YouTube last month dealing with the various connector road projects they've been working on to tie into the SW leg of 201.

If it is a twin (and based on the shapes of the piers it looks like it will be) I'm assuming they're going to use the same launching method for the bridge deck that they used for the first brige.

Someone posted here that they're not going to be using the same method. No idea if that's true or not.

Doug Jan 10, 2020 12:08 AM

Wouldnt the cranes hoist the bridge deck segments into place? Based on memory, constructing the originally span did not use tower cranes.

I suspect tower cranes do not have the capacity to lift huge bridge girders, and where currently located do not appear to have the reach to place girders over the river.
