PHILLY | This Last Past...

Seems like my Philly threads have become semi-yearly events now. One just don't have the same kind of free time to put things together as one once did so when the time comes along it's kind of nice to put your foot into it as is said.

Yeah, there's a certain timestamp on a lot of these images from over the past ten months or so but they're as good now as they were way back when.

Please enjoy.

And as always I thank you for your time.

Oh gosh what are those greens in the river, are they enteromorpha prolifera?

Glad to see Philly continues growing up.

Great pics as always! Our fair city sure is changing rapidly.

Thank you for such a dynamic set and for including some of the striking new architecture there!

ColDayMan May 10, 2017 8:07 PM

I am pleased.

Good pictures!

University City sure is changing quickly. I don't recognize many of those new buildings going up.

Nice that you got a picture of one of the old signs for the Walt Whitman Bridge. I like those old signs that kind-of predate the Interstate System. It's like the signs for the Delaware Turnpike, which is a combination of Interstates, or the Delaware Memorial Bridge, or the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, or the Merritt Parkway, and so on.

Were you drinking Founders? You should have a can or bottle of Yards or Tired Hands on the ledge!

I see a Delaware reference!

Bravo!!! :worship:

This one brought back a lot of memories for me:

btw, do you think my Walt Whitman bridge pass from 1975 would still work?

Thanks.

volguus, you've nailed Philly again. Great set!

PhilliesPhan May 11, 2017 11:39 PM

The picture of the Manayunk/Norristown Line train passing over US 1 is my favorite! This is a fantastic album!

Also, I love how you go all around the city to take pictures. You're just like me in that respect. There is beauty all across this great city, even in the "rough" areas.

Timing and subject choice are - as always - excellent; photography becomes great when the images tell us something about the person shooting them. That is something you have achieved here. It's a personal account, a story about your city you love to share. There is no one else who could have produced a set like this but you. So congratulations, this is great photography.

^ Heck, that's one beautiful comment. Glad you're better than I am to this, it will help me.
Keep in mind you're always helpful when you're good, everyone.

Man, these are great. And I see the praying mantis made an appearance. I remember him.

This is beautiful:

The FMC Tower looks so futuristic here. It's kind of odd seeing such a futuristic appearing building in Philly, a city known for old wood and brick buildings.
