Hamburg - Germany's second city
Located in the north of the country, in many ways quite Scandinavian in its appearance.

To be entirely honest, I feel proud and lucky to be a neighbor and a cousin of disciplined Germany.
They make quality wealth and stuff, then you enjoy it all. Right? See Trump moaning about Mercedes, BMW and Audi all over his NYC, like the little insignificant bitch he is. Mwaha! I'm not saying they're perfect, but their decent progressive culture is an absolute blessing, inspiring. And y'all know it. |
My dad's family's old country. They lived in Hamburg before leaving for the US.
My grandfather did a painting of the scene from the promenade along the building on the right (under where those arches are) looking across the channel toward City Hall. There was a small restaurant there. From what I've been able to see of modern photos, it doesn't look like it's changed at all in 60+ years. Quote:

Yeah, that part has been relatively well-preserved/rebuilt after the war. Compared to my hometown of Cologne, I feel Hamburg has done a significantly better job of restoring or taking care of its architectural heritage despite similar WW2-damage.

It's sad there are no photos of RLD.

German cities are really the best.

I need to get back there sometime. Haven’t been since I was a kid, when I stayed with my godfather.

Great photos. Lots of tell tale architectural examples of the Hanseatic League.
|
Modern stuff from the "HafenCity"...a lot of relatively dull architecture to be honest. This little tower is one of the better examples.
