Love those turret buildings..! Chicago has a unique look to it.
Are the El trains loud? Does the city offer people who live next to El lines soundproofed/double-paned windows? |
Ah...Fall in Chicago. Thanks for the photos.
And yes, Kingofthehill, the trains are loud, but you get used to them. As for the people who's windows are literally 2 feet from the tracks, I would assume they get used to it too (I have a friend in such a situation who claims he is) but probably with a little more conditioning. |
Autumn gives special colors to cities, my fav period of the year

Chicago's beautiful in the fall.
Did they finally finish working on that Armitage stop? |
Nice. The past few days have been excellent weather. Box fans in my window, great sleeping weather, no matter what you did it was compfortable and just beautiful out. Last night was the last until like May or something so I went for a long walk to enjoy the last of it.
Great pictures. I'll be looking for this thread in a week for memories. |

Lovely neighborhood. Thanks for the tour!

Wow what a beautiful day, Nov the 5th was almost as nice as the 4th, that made your photo's just dance.
Did you see any post election energy that was so alive the day and night before? It is hard to see any, if there was, of it in stills but being that you were walking the streets, do you have any other commentary? What a nice photo thread Ohioguy! |
You really captured life in Lincoln Park.
|
Beautiful! FAll this year has been amazing, and as usual, I have been too busy to enjoy it. Thanks for capturing it.

The living room at the front of the building was actually the loudest room in the apartment with the windows open, becuase the building across the street was by chance acustically perfect and bounced the sound back towards us. |
I looked at an apartment in a building located right where the Sheridan curve is. But I decided against it because the apartment was located at the back side of the building, exactly level with the EL tracks. Well that wasn't the only reason I decided against it - the building/apartment was a little too outdated and I found a better apartment in a better location in East Lakeview for a surprisingly cheaper monthly rate.

Stunning pics! Since most posts on here are downtown skyscraper shots it was very nice to see another part of this great city.
